So I've now been a warrior for 62 levels and I have almost never seen the need to tank. I'm wondering if my gear is up to the challenge of hitting Ramparts for the first time. I'll be completing the last of the quests in Hellfire before I head there and will try to pick up a shoulder piece to replace my Azeroth gear (ranged is from a Hellfire quest I haven't done just yet) but I'd like to see if you think I'm ready to hit Ramparts or if my stats just don't make the cut?

Fu - 62 Warrior

This is also my healer that I'm partied with:
Chiron - 62 Paladin

Thoughts?

Thank you for making this post! I'm getting ready to go thru the same thing...shortly.

I would think less 'grinding' gear and a bit more +def gear is what most is going to say. For Hellfire, you might be ok? That one is not super tough, and and many CC'able mobs... you can literally be able to tank 1 mob at a time.

I plan on getting a lot of ...of the champion stuff to start me out. Not to grind for exp with... but, to keep in a seperate bag in my bank.

I'm bookmarking this post, I really need to know also =) I've never tanked there, but did plenty of runs with my hunter... never looked at what the tanks were wearing tho.

I already have added 76 defense rating and I will have a full set of Outland gear, what I was really looking for was a desired armor and stamina value. I know the last boss is a real pain due to the amount of fire damage he outputs but I'm not about to blow 50g+ on greens of fire protection for one fight that will be useless afterwards.

Perhaps a fire protection potion though, hmm.

Current stats unbuffed:
8061 Armor(with shield)
6389 hit points
0 fire resist

I tanked Ramps at 60 with worse gear than you. You should be fine, as long as you know how to tank. It's mostly about holding agro before 70 and since you have defiance you should be ok.

So I've now done ramparts. We picked up a 62 warlock and a 65 shadow priest. I would have preferred to have everyone around our level but after looking for 2 hours I couldn't be choosy. Other than the last bosses fire attacks being a bit nasty the instance was a breeze. Chiron(Holy Paladin) never ran out of MP and did a great job of healing. I did on occasion lose aggro to the warlock and the shadow priest but it was difficult not to when they were blasting everything so fast.

I did pop one of the potions that Gyfford listed. 5g well spent I think.

i know you've already said you'd done it but ill give my view anyway, your amour etc doesnt worry me but the fact you said you've never felt the need to tank, which means your experience with tanking may or may not have been enough (this goes for future more dificult instances to) you may want to run Ramparts a few times to pick up some tips and tricks and get experience with tanking.

Your nervous? I should have been pissing myself then...

When I first tanked it I did it in crappy half azeroth gear half HFP gear (all my DPS/lvling set) at lvl60 with a full arms/fury build... in fact I didnt even start a tanking set unti about lvl68

You will be fine

Note: I did it without a fire resist pot but I sure woulda liked one...

Edit: I probebly should have looked at the whole thread to see if you'd done it.... oh well :P

I'm not too worried about that as I run around with a static party - Holy Paladin and a Fire mage. When we do group quests I'm the one attempting to keep hate off everything and I've done pretty good thus far so I do have tanking experience even though I haven't tanked instances very often. I also pretty much understand the game due to having 3 70's but the comment is spot on for a new warrior coming into their own. Rate ups all around.

I had a tank set by the 40s and I constantly updated it. The first instance I tanked for real was Uldaman with some practice in Scarlet Monastery.

By the time I made it to Ramparts I was pretty confident. The only trouble I had at all was on the final boss, but that was quickly worked out. Blood Furnace is where I really started to learn how to tank well.
