Having trouble deciding what classFollow

#1 Sep 05 2007 at 2:18 PM Rating: Decent
Well, I have a lvl 62 rogue, and once I hit 70, i'm gonna make an alt. The only problem is, I'm stuck between 3 classes: Mage, Priest, and Warlock. Does anyone have any experience with atleast 2 of them and could let me know what they enjoy playing the most? I realize it's all a matter of preference of how you want to play, but I can't decide at all. I play on a PvP server, and it would be an Alliance character, so could I get some input guys?

Mage, its DPS, like your main, and you already chose it my posting in mage forums. I know you did not put it in mage forums on purpose, but if you really wanted to hear some other answer you would have put it in another forum. You deep down want a mage.

Mages rock, if you go frost, at 50 (I think) you get the water elemental with which you can kill any other class (I haven't tried it 1-on-1 with a few classes) Until then, you can go fire, like I did.

QFT, frost....if you spec it at around 40 you will almost stop dying and still have good dps.

Actually, I posted this in the Priest and Lock forums as well, hoping to sort through them and find an unbiast opinion.

I have a 70 human lock and I just made a mage (he's up to 42 now).

Love them both. If you want to play around with demons/pets then go with the lock. You never feel alone with your demon following you around and each demon has special abilities for certain situations. With a lock you will also never run out of mana if you are affliction (which I would recommend to level with).

Eventually I got tired of the dot-dot-dot type damage and went into destruction with my lock. This is the BAM burst damage high crit type of lock (sounds like a mage eh??) So that got me thinking....I love seeing big numbers, maybe I should roll a mage and give him a try.

So my mage is new, and anything new would be most peoples favorite as he is my favorite right now as well. Crowd control is so much easier in instances with the mage vs lock so you don't have to worry about things as much. Porting from city to city is freaking awesome and making water/food kicks *****

My first dude was a rogue whom I got up to 62 when I decided to make a lock and I have no desire to ever play my rogue anymore and currently little desire to play my lock now that I have my mage.

Sorry, I posted before you posted in the others. >.>
Well depends if you wanna start from the get go or just do a little (little more than alittle :D) I would say play each to 25, thats when the classes start to develop to what they are going to be.

I've said it before, and I'll likely say it again.

The fact that you are unsure means you are not meant to be a mage. Rolling a mage is, for those whom are truly called, no less than an orgasmic, spiritual experience.

The mage itself should live within your soul already, just waiting to get out. It should be drawing at you...pulling you, as it were, towards your destiny. Your magical, powerful destiny. The fires should burn from within, the chill should travel down your spine and the affinity for the arcane should focus your mind.

By you needing the advice of others on whether to roll a mage or not, I can tell you that this true spirit of the mage does not exist within you. So truly, while you can roll the class, you will never find the true fulfillment within. You will never be one with your mage. And that, my friend, is truly a sad existence.

Golden. Well played (and of course a friendly rate-up for bringing Rugrats here)

I got a level 70 rogue who's just waay too frustrating to play on. Especially in PvP. Being a melee class is a serious disadvantage in the group PvP that is WoW.

I rerolled warlock and got him to 66. It didn't really suit my playstyle, and it wasn't very satisfactory killing people with the dot'n'kite tactic.

Coming from a background with firstperson shooters, I absolutely love the fastpaced action, quick reaction times and good battle overview and decisionmaking that it required to play my rogue. But a lot of things is wrong with this class, which makes it more frustrating than enjoyable to play him.

I have now rerolled mage, and this suits me perfectly! So much control, damage and the fast-paced playstyle that I like.

Add to that, the frostmage is a formidable opponent in 1v1 PvP, as well as being very viable in all other aspects of the game.

2v2: they do good
3v3: they are absolutely awesome
5v5: they are excellent

BG's: they do excellent here as well
5-mans: always needed
Heroics: even MORE needed
Raids: ALso welcome to any raid.

If I were you, I'd definately pick it up and see how you like it. My mage is still level 20, but I can feel this is ME. This is the playstyle I want. The mage has all the aspects I liked from the rogue, only a lot less frustrating to play, and more viable overall.

I'm looking forward to do some nasty AoE grinding and hopefully I'll be 70 before the this month is over.

If you want an appetizer of what an INCREDIBLE mage is capable of, sit back and enjoy Agramon from Doomsquad:

Conclusion:

Pick mage!
