So, it's basically that.. [Lvl 70] Any MM spec wanna share their shot rotation? What's good to use? All the hunters I know are BM and dont really share this info... o_o

What kind of macros do you use, if any? I'm not accustomed to raiding and such, as it is my first time to endgame. o_o so any help would be appreciated.

There are a bunch of threads on this and you end up with various answers. Some are pure dps rotations, others are situation specific.

Generic Rotation I use:

Aimed > Steady > Auto > Steady > Auto (ad nauseum)

Situationals radically vary. Sometimes I don't use rotation, especially in CC moments, as I don't have time to settle down into rotation (trying to kite, or trapping coming first). It's whatever shot is needed at a given moment and if you lock yourself into Aimed or Steady, you might miss the right time to deliver another kind of shot. So at those times I let auto-shot do it's thing and I worry about doing the CC job right or pulling aggro off the casters, or even off the tank if the healer is OOM to let the tank bandage or pot up. Then I FD and the tank gets the hate back.

So you'll need to learn what situation is best to use what rotation, and if you're like me, you'll never get it totally perfect... but when you do it just once perfectly, you look like a totally awesome hunter! :)

When you get it all wrong... you have to wear the Huntard hat... :(

What Sloshot said basically, but it does depend a little on the situation what rotation I use.

If I have a free source of mana (i.e., mage water) I'll usually slip in Arcane Shot when the cooldown is available. You can do so without disrupting Auto Shot. I know Arcane is a mana hog, but it's a little extra damage and if I can drink mage water, I might as well.

I also use Arcane with a Misdirect pull. I like to hit hard and fast with Misdirect to maximize it. So, I'll typically do Steady Shot - Arcane Shot - Auto Shot with a Misdirect pull.

If I'm solo'ing, I'll open with Aimed. It gives the pet a little extra time to get in a second growl and hold aggro. If I pull aggro off the pet, it's not such a big deal anyway. Mobs usually don't last long enough for it to matter a lot anyway.

When I'm in raids or instances, however, I usually don't open with Aimed. I don't want to risk pulling aggro. If I get a big crit right at the start of a fight (even having waited for the tank to get sunders up or whatever) it's still quite possible to pull aggro with a monster crit. Instead, I just wait for the tank to have aggro and open with Steady Shot and go into the Steady Shot - Auto Shot rotation. I've found this more conservative route is less likely to cause problems. Once the fight is in progress, I don't use Aimed at all. You can typically do more damage in the amount of time it takes to get Aimed off with Steady and Auto.

Ya just like it says above it all really just depends.... I try and keep to a Multi Shot(if I can only hit the one target with out breaking a sheep or pulling more mob)Arcane Shot, Steady Shot, and some Auto Shots till Multi Shot is ready or Arcane.

But on MD pulls ill open up with Aim Shot, Multi Shot, and Arcane... But it all really depends on the situation really. If iam just grinding/questing ill just go on a Steady/Auto Shot rotation..

I dont use a macro but would love to see some posted up if any of u guys/girls do use one.

Auto > Steady > multi/arcane/scorpid > auto > steady > auto > steady > multi/arcane/scorpid > etc.
occasionally either try to fit potions in between the shot rotation or replace a special with a potion.

two TKAsomething articles that helped me out immensely with my shot roto:

http://www.tkasomething.com/castsequence.php
http://www.tkasomething.com/shotrot.php

Macros i personally use:
No CC present
Quote:
/castsequence reset=3 Steady Shot, Arcane Shot, Auto Shot, Steady Shot, Multi-Shot, Auto Shot, Steady Shot, Arcane Shot, Auto Shot, Steady Shot, Auto Shot
/cast [exists,target=pettarget] Kill Command

CC Present
Quote:
/script UIErrorsFrame:Hide()
/castsequence reset=3 Steady Shot, Arcane Shot, Auto Shot, Steady Shot, Auto Shot,
/cast [exists,target=pettarget] Kill Command
/script UIErrorsFrame:Clear(); UIErrorsFrame:Show()

unfortunately 255 characters isnt long enough to hide the error messages on the Multi macro, so I'm stuck with the error spam. Not so with the single target macro.

With a 2.7 speed bow I've found I can maximize my DPS (assuming AI and other buffs, free water, etc) with the following rotation:

Steady
Arcane
Auto
Steady
Auto
Rinse and repeat.

Make sure you are weaving the Steady and Arcane into your rotation, such that you are not clipping your auto shots. Clipped auto shots = loss of DPS, and waste of mana. This means you need to fire of Steady as soon as you auto fires, and then spam your arcane button as the Steady Shot is channeling to avoid lag issues. Once I start running low on mana (or If I'm getting too high on the threat meter) I'll simply pull the arcane out of the rotation for a while.

I used the same rotation sucessfully with my blaster shot launcher (2.9 speed gun) with similar results. With a weapon that's much faster than 2.7 though (or with either the serpent swiftness talent, or rapid fire engaged), I don't think I'd be able to weave the arcane shot's in without some clipping.....which is why many BM hunters simply use Steady/Auto as their main rotation.

Go right ahead. They aren't my creations, i just took the macros from the TKA something articles and added the Kill Command line to them - that way i can just spam a single macro for everything.

Yeah. its little more than an annoyance but occasionally it can obscure your vision.

My personal Favorite:

Aimed
Auto
Steady
Auto
Multi
Auto
Steady
Auto
Steady
Auto
and so on and so forth, leaving out Aimed unless starting a pull, and using Multi when it is up if there is no CC'd mobs nearby.
