Hi! I am currently leveling my mage, which is level 17. At what level does frost get efficient enough? I was thinking of trying it at level 20 already, since you then have blink, imp FN, Frostbite and so on. I won't have shatter by then, but I still have some nice stuff.

At which level do you think I should go for frost spec?

At level 20 you will be able to have full improved frostbolt + two points in improved frost nova + 3 points in frostbite. By 30 you can end up with a build like this:

Which will give you a lot of control and some decent power as well.

Yup, been doing some research, although I'd remove the permafrost point for Cold Snap...That grants you one more oh **** button, so I'd go with this sort of build at 30: http://www.wowhead.com/?talent=oZZVmG0o0xo

Any more suggestions? Might go with it at 20 but I'd love seeing some suggestions XD

I personally didn't spec into frost until lvl 29 when I could fill out 5/5 shatter. Having this really helps frost cause you will crit a ton and kill mobs fast.

But really questing up to lvl 29 is pretty easy for any spec I would imagine, so it probably doesn't matter much unless you care about being the most optimal in terms of speed to level.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure I'm gonna stay Fire until I reach 30-32 somewhere. Thanks for the tips everyone!
