Changing to HolyFollow

#1 Sep 05 2007 at 9:41 AM Rating: Decent
Hello fellow paladins.
I recently made the decision to re-spec to Holy in order to main heal 5-man instances and eventually heal for guild Kara raids. I also threw some into protection for decent solo capability.

Here is my current build at lvl 61:

Here is my plan for 70:

What do you all think of these builds? I know there's some fat to trim around the edges, but I don't have a lot of experience with the holy tree. Any feedback on this would be great.

The holy side is good, the prot side I would change some things. Don't go for Anticipation, cause as a healer, the 20 extra defense isn't going to do much for you. Grab Blessing of Kings, and Imp RF. BoK because someone has to have it, and you might as well. Imp RF because I know there are a couple raid fights in which you actually want to generate more threat because you want to be the highest on the threat list of the healers, it's still kinda hard, but in those fights you can be a "heal tank". Also, Guardian's Favor and Stoicism are nice to pick up as well, especially Guardian's Favor for the Moroes fight in Kara.

On the holy side, glancing over it you should get Aura Mastery, because a lot of the fights will have a lot of running around, and you want to get the most people covered by your aura as possible. Or there will be mobs who have a 30 yard aoe/attack. This allows you to be farther than the attack but still in range for the aura to effect melee classes.

Your Holy tree looks pretty similar to what I've done. I still wonder if 2 points in Purifying Power would prove useful for saving some MP at times though.

In your Protection tree, instead of improved Devotion, I'm going the Redoubt > Shield Specialization route while leveling. I could see picking one or the other improved auras come raiding time when there may be more than one paladin to help maximize the auras, but otherwise you're only going to get use out of those talents from one aura at a time.

If you're still soloing a lot, you may want to look into a more hybrid approach between holy/ret trees for a shockadin type build. So much the holy tree is really nice, especially for healing, but it doesn't help you kill much faster if you'll be soloing a lot.

Yeah what he said, my post was from an end-game raiding idea rather than a grinding up idea. You'll probably have to respec again once you hit 70, as you wont be grinding as much.

Holy tree is solid.

Prot tree is personal preference but I recommend getting BoK. People will expect you to have it. 5 points into Imp Devo aura is not great for yourself but when in a raid or grouping it is nice, more useful than redoubt at least.
