Tanking Glove EnchantFollow

I'm curious what most people consider to be the best enchant for tanking gloves. Is it the 2% increased threat or the +15 Agility?

I know this comes down to the age old argument of avoidance/mitigation vs. TPS, but I just wanted to know what experienced end game tanks preferred.

Thanks,
Camel

It would really depend on your mitigation and your dps's ability. If you already have good avoidence and your dps are having to hold back more often than not then go 2% threat. If your avoidence is kinda low and your healers are having trouble keeping you up go 15 agl, your dps will just have to suck it up. They can't do their job if your dead.

Thanks for the replies guys. I had forgotten to include the knothide armor kit. Is the +8 stam really better than the other two enchants? 80 hp just doesn't seem like it's better than the increased threat or avoidance.

I'd get +15 agi tbh. Nice dodge rating.

2% threat would also be really nice, and the stam too. As said: It depends on what you need.

i'll cast my vote for 8 stam as well. although if your tank gloves are pulling doublebuty (maiden gaunts for tank/mitigation/dps) then strength is acceptable.

15 agi is best but it's rare enough to be discounted.

2% threat well... there was a time when it mattered but nowadays it's insignificant.

Agility is about as good as Stamina for tanking (well... it is when you have twice as much AGI as STA, anyway!) for mit/avoidance and also provides increased threat. 2% threat is nice for the times when... you need the extra threat. =p

As for which is better... my instinct would be the 2% threat; 15 AGI is nice, but it hasn't scaled incredibly well and .5% dodge/crit isn't as good as 2% increased threat. Even if you aren't that lacking for threat in most cases, it'd let you socket/itemize purely for avoidance and make up for the tanking stats lost by not having 15 AGI.

Average;
(500 TPS) * 1.02 = 510. 10 TPS for 2% threat.

Good;
(750 TPS) * 1.02 = 765. 15 TPS for 2% threat.

Great;
(1000 TPS) * 1.02 = 1020. 20 TPS for 2% threat.

Hmm... Seems like the only one that actually scales well. But I still have +8 stamina. 80 Hp, + 5% to stamina from vitality (84 hp), +5% from being tauren (88 hp). Decent. But if I had a guild enchanter with it (and the spare guild chanting mats), I'd probably go with the threat enchant.

The +8 stamina is just good overall for gear your gonna replace any how. But if you get to a point where your not gonna upgrade your gear, 2% threat wins; IMHO.

I'm sorry.... Stamina +982 is just plain sick!! Smiley: bowdown

So can anything kill you? You have to be afk for 1/2 hour in a BG?

The wonders of being an MT. =P

Sure nothing can kill him (or certainly not quickly), but I'm not certain he could do much better to kill them back >.>;

Ha...

Yes. Lots of things can kill me.

In bg's they usually leave me alone.

In arena i get left for last, and usually can't hurt a fly while running around hamstringing and SS.

Magic still hurts alot.

I'm not even itemized for Sta at this armory snap shot. I put on my trash tank set. Malchazeen is .. ok for tanking. But my gromtors charge is better (less dps, but more sta agi and def). And since I'm both my guilds MT and DPS war, I have alot of gear to itemize with. Which is nice and makes it when I let the OT tank I actually can get some good dps going.

Story time; (The part most people say tl;dr)

My guild is having ... issues with the new WotLK coming out, and people bailing to join new guilds (to see endgame content before new endgame content is released). Last night I setup a guild run for kara, and we got the big bad wolf event. We lose 2 of our dps in the first 30 seconds (bad luck one shot crits, red riding hood debuf). And then lost a healer who was lag/afk. We begin the process of losing all of our dps. So it's 2 healers, me and our OT. BBW is at 30%. I was unfortunetly in tank gear, but had the option to put on malchazeen and tried to dps it down. We lose our druid healer. Just me pali, and our OT war (who's kinda retarded, but we love him all the same). Then the OT decides he can tank while red riding hood debuffed. Ded. Me and pali. Pali gets it. Just me... BBW at 11k hp. ... I'm buffed to 17k hp 15.5k armor. And had lay on hands as the pali died. Since I was in boss gear I had about 18/18 parry/dodge and 510 defense. But I have like maybe 150 dps. I (by the skin of my teeth; reads shield wall, last stand, every pot, and mores pocket watch twice) kill it at 312 or 315 hp. Then last stand wears off seconds later (5100 hp). 1 hp. Too bad I'm not an engineer and warriors can't rez huh?

That reminded me of Larry the Cable Guy: Health Inspector movie.

Heh. Now my snapshot is better.

Woot for logging out in the middle of both trinkets and last stand!
