I am in a small guild that is mostly social in nature. As such, some of the larger raids I am able to attend are PUG's and more scenic than loot oriented. Besides raiding the AH, what are my best sources for gear (I know tailoring, but lets place everything out there for conversational purposes).

By far the easiest epics to solo are the PVP rewards like Silk and Veteran's. They are good, not amazing, but good for PVE.
edit - assuming you use them sparingly. You dont want somebody in FULL PVP epics raiding with you in the high level stuff. Its probably fine in kara though, even with the complete lack of spell hit.
