Frost Mage PvP GearFollow

#1 Sep 05 2007 at 2:09 AM Rating: Decent
Hello All,

I recently hit 70 on my first character, my frost mage and have started to PvP a lot for the rewards. Having rushed to 70 as fast as possible I haven't taken time to hone my gear or PvP skills and although I do OK my guild mates are suggesting that my biggest downfall at the moment is my gear - being mainly outland greens with no resilience at all.

Sooo, my question is basically, what set should I be aiming for from battlegrounds rewards? I say battlegrounds since I see no point in even attempting arenas yet as I tried a few practise matches and got promptly 2-shotted by better geared / more experienced players.

I have looked through the set lists here and have picked the Grand Marshal's Regalia as my target set. Is this a good choice to get me going?

Thanks in advance,

I've personally taken the Veteran's... stuff. Not too expensive, and very useful.

My Mage (Psyka, in sig) has gear only from crafting, BG and Arena. I have done virtually no PvE with him.

I would also advise you to go in the arena, if only to start collecting points. Even if you lose 10 games in 2v2, you'll still get 250 points or so, and you can buy another charter the next week, and start again. Apart from the cost of buying a charter (which is very low), there is no reason not to do that.

Thanks,

Yes that veterans stuff looks really nice BUT couldn't I wear both (assuming I can get enough points) since the Grand Marshal's set is shoulders, head, hands, chest & legs and the Veterans is belt, bracers & feet?

Or would loading up that much PvP gear from battlegrounds be a waste of time in the face of the superior arena rewards?

Thanks for the advice (I will sign up an arena team tonight, my wife is also lvl 70 frost mage so it should be a laugh at the very least!)

Thanks again!

Yeah, you could wear both, of course. And if you can be bothered to grind so much honour, then go for it. Both are not mutually exclusive, but it'll take a long time to grind so much honour.

I would focus on getting the Veteran's first, and going for the Arena gear. My 2v2 arena team is 2 frost mages, and it's a lot of fun. Our rating sucks cos my partner is a rl friend with awful gear, but there is no doubt that 2 well-geared and skilled frost mages can do very well in the Arena.

Unfortunately, me and my friend are not those 2 frost mages.
