Tank? DPS? Exotic Dancer?Follow

#1 Sep 04 2007 at 7:04 PM Rating: Decent
I'm rolling a Warrior soon and was just wondering what the different talents are for. Protection = Tanking, Arms = DPS, Fury = OMGn00bpWnzR?

edit: I checked the Warrior info sticky at the top of the forums but all it had was different buids you could use, not really the purpose of the different talent trees.

Prot = Tank
Arms = PVP
Fury = Raid Dps/Farming

Arms is terrible by itself. After you get 31 points or so in there (for mortal strike, you can dump a few more in for second wind and bloodfrenzy) you should just go into fury and pick up all the good talents to get DW, Enrage and Imp Intercept. I love imp slam but many people don't know how to use it, so they skip it. And put a few points in tac mastery (prot).

Fury is for farming, and pve dps. But mostly farming, most guilds dont want a fury warrior T_T. But its not really viable until you start getting a lot of hit rating gear. You'll miss A LOT and it will drive you nuts.

You should take a look at the Warrior FAQ that RZ put together, very informative and has a few different builds for different tasks.

I'd skip improved HS and Imp Hamstring, myself.

Fury warriors (dps warriors in general) are quickly becoming very common in end game raiding. When specced and geared properly we are more than capable of topping dmg charts while still being able to throw our tank gear on and OTing in fights where it is needed.

Protection... Tanking. Your probably gonna have to ***** yourself out to a guild when you hit 70, just to get the gear your gonna want for the spec you really are going to try to do end game.

Since tanking is what warriors do best, it's a good idea to learn how to tank.

Arms is the pvp tree, and since warriors are kinda weak when it comes to ranged casters and kiting, learning to pvp is a good idea too. Since it isn't as easy for us, you don't just stack tons of resilience and hp, then just nuke nuke nuke.

Fury is the best damage giving tree. It has the best scalability of any tree. This is the tree that has all the better pve dps talents. If you want to be a huge asset to a guilds dps, get good gear first, then spec fury. It also can be very low dps with ****** gear.

Indeed, fury is the most gear dependant spec (possibly in the game) so with ****** gear you can be very lack luster. The flip side is that when you get gear good enough to make you viable, every upgrade from there increases your dps more than a comparable piece for another class/spec.

So I guess Fury would be best for leveling and higher levels, until I learn to tank. I know warriors are the main tanks but I dont want to start tanking until I know what I'm doing since a bad tank causes wipes.

Arms is easy to level with. You don't have to upgrade all your gear every 5-10 levels to the best. Arms you just need to make sure to have a good 2h upgraded.

Start learning to tank early and as bad as this sounds learn to tank with idiots in your party. It will make you a better tank in the long run simply because you will be used to the **** hitting the fan and be ready to act accordingly.

go fury with a 2h, thats not nearly as gear dependent and will give you better dps than the straight up arms tree.

I'm sorry I've been looking for an answer to this question I had but didn't have much luck finding it. I apologize if this is off topic to this thread.

I was wondering for a DPS warrior, which would provide a higher DPS: DW fury or 2H fury? Or are they both similar with no real differences.

Recently came back to WoW from a really long break and I have notice some changes since I left. Sorry if this was answered before.

DW fury with good enough gear provides the most *personal* dps.

HOWEVER, if you take in part the amount of dps you add for rogues/enh. shammies with the arms debuff [the 4% extra physical damage], 2h spec arms is USUALLY superior for overall raid dps...

another however on that is, depending on yours vs. the dw'ing warrior and group composition... and the effects of the nerf of windfury...

if you raid 25 mans with an unusually heavy melee group, the debuff with be better than dw'ing, if you run with an abundance of casters the 4% may not be worth it.
