I'm curious to know exactly what tradeskills other rogues take. I'm not really looking to find out what skills your alts have (zOMG engi 4 BGs LOL!), so disregard this unless your rogue is your primary character, or at least level 50.

I've included both production skills and gathering skills since I'm sure there are several of you out there with two gathering skills. In either case, please choose the skill that you would consider to be your "primary" tradeskill. If you choose a production skill, please tell us which specialization you chose.

What is your rogue's primary tradeskill?

Wow, what an insightful and interesting poll!

I'm a leatherworker (and a skinner), and my specialization is Elemental!

Chose mining because I do much, much more mining than I do BS.

BS is pretty much just for the mace and to be able to attach weapon chains to my stuff.

I'm another leatherworker/skinner. I haven't specialized yet, but naturally I'm about to go with elemental.

Somewhere way back in the day, I decided I never wanted to have any money, so I went Enchanter / Jewelcrafter.

Jewelcrafting == most useless profession. Will take a year to make back the investment in designs (what the **** Blizzard, EVERY non-meta design that's worth having is a world drop, EVERY ******* ONE!), and there never was any money in Enchanting.

I'm herb/alch on my main. I'm skin/leather on my other. Yeah...I have two rogues. But I have a question for you all...I just found the Dragonscale trainer in Badlands as I was questing the other day. I don't plan to go that route, I plan to go elemental. But what happened when BC came out? Do I still have to specialze like it is pre-BC around skill level 250? Or can I learn everything and is the new specialization in the Outlands?

Enchanting/LW, since this is an alt.

Try making money via enchanting on a low pop server like Zuluhed. You might make 20g an hour.

Picked Jewelcrafting because I figured the guild could use one.

Miner/Engineer

Really just took engineering for my epic helm....the goblin rocket launcher is nice to have for the +45 stamina in arena play as well.

I mine and enchant, mine for cash, enchant for myself and friends. +2 weapon damage on both rings + Mut = mighty. On our server there are constantly people spamming enchanting services in trade so I don't even bother trying to turn a profit.

In response to saying that JC makes no money that is so not true. I have a buddy who easily makes 2-3k a week buying stacks of ore from guildies, friends, or AH and prospecting them. Immagine buying a stack of adamantite ore for 20g and prospecting it into only one blue gem, you just made about 25g. The last time I had him prospect a stack of ore for me I got 2 blue gems, and about 3 greens. Now that was mostly luck but still thats about 80+ gold for one stack of ore.

The best part is that it takes very little time, and you don't have to sit in a major city spamming trade waiting for stupid noobs to send you tells. I could however understand this not working well on a low pop server, but in all reality you aren't going to make much off of most proffessions on a low pop server just due to a lack of economy.

That doesn't change the fact that (dis)enchanting can be one of the most profitable professions in the game.

Is spamming the trade chat all day trying to sell your enchanting services profitable? Not at all.

Is disenchanting blue BoP stuff for shards profitable? Extremely so.

Enchanting is still one of the best (if not the best) profession for a high-end rogue.

The market will only sustain so much. On a small server, if you decide to farm an instance for shards, you will kill the market. I farmed BRD for a long time, and if I could sell every shard I got, it would have been 300g / hour by my calculations. I ended up with a dozen stacks of shards that took over a month to sell, and the price on shards dropped to 5g each.

I got simple herb/alch combination (decent set of rare recipes tho)
but nvm I think will be good to have professions that gives some unique benefits

I think enchanting is most interesting choice because of ring +wep damage enchants

LW/BS/JC crafts are replaceble by drops, these enchants not

P.S. If I need cash I just returning to netherwing ledge to repeat quest set quickly or farming primals, no profs involved

Goblin Engineering and Herbalism.

Got a leatherworking/alchemy druid so there was just no way I'd do the leather thing again.

at first I had tailoring/mining (no idea why xP) then at around 30 or something I went enchanting. it was tough to raise it up, and it was even harder to keep it up while I was lvling; in other words it was dragging behind. my friend said I should do eng instead. tried that, failed, so I decided to go herb. at 60 I took a break to raise my skills; mining was already very high, so no need to raise that, but I raised my herb to about 200 and decided to keep lvling.

I wish I still had enchanting; I'd say that's something very good for a rogue, and mining is also good as you won't be wasting your ore on things you need (ex. you might waste herbs on potions.) herb is proving to be useful as there's many herbs that go for a lot on my server, but I'd much rather prefer enchanting/mining for a rogue
