This is an evolved hybrid build idea that I’m currently playing around with.

Has anyone used this before?(or something similar) Did you enjoy it, or did you feel it was too gimped in your opinion?

My current situation:
**70 warrior; PvP server.
**I prefer soloing with a 2h, rather than duel welding.
**Slam rocks!!

I’m in a very small guild, where we all still need gold, gear, & rep. We’re starting to run more instances (not heroic) for obvious reasons, but many times I still find myself soloing content for goodies & money.

Yes, I am leading into a “rate my tankable dps build.” Yes, I understand that there is no such real build for those two completely different character rolls. And yes, I will go all protection when we start running heroics.

I just need something I can grind with, & tank some fast pace regular instances. I’ve read here that an arms or a fury build ‘can’ tank regulars, but life is easier if the tank is prot. However, that makes my warriors life that much more difficult to survive outside the safeties of a dungeon…..not to mention the time sink a prot war has to digest in grinding. I see this being more of a hybrid PvE build, & not so much a PvP build.

Aight, I’ve talked long enough….back to my original question:
Has anyone used this before?(or something similar) Did you enjoy it, or did you feel it was too gimped in your opinion?

Thanks,
Conluceo “the caged animal” Armour

I mean...I dunno...I think that build is rather ugly. I'm no expert, but it jumbles up using a 2hander and sword and board skills.

Things I don't like in it (most likely personal preference)

Imp. Charge- I'd put the 2 points into deflection. I can generate fine enough rage without Imp. Charge on my warrior.
Imp. Taunt- Sorry. 2 seconds off a 15 second (I think, can't remember the exact cooldown for the life of me) at the cost of 2 talent points isn't very well worth it.

I dunno...generally most of the talents are good...but I don't see too much synergy. I mean, I guess you'll be a half decent Tank for instances over a full fury or Arms warrior, maybe...but you've gimped yourself a bit because you have lots of neato talents that don't really appear to me to work in tandem with one another.

Of course, RPZip would be better to answer this question. I'm just tossing in a couple copper.

I've actually tried something similar to this, but it was considerably... cleaner. You're missng a lot of good talents in favor of some pretty iffy ones.

I went with this one. Imp. HS is not even close to as good as Deflection in pretty much any build (assuming you _ever_ expect to tank), much less a hybrid build. Imp. Cleave/max'd Commanding Presence/Imp. Execute pale in comparison to for solo PvE or PvP, and not getting Death Wish if you're more than 20 points into Fury is just criminal.

On the protection side Toughness > Anticipation, and Concussion Blow is amazing both for soloing and instances.

With that said... from my testing, the build didn't work as well as I might have liked, but I was looking for something that might possibly work in PvP as well (hint: It didn't). For solo PvE and groups, this should work pretty well.

Your alternative is to go for a 35/5/15 build, which sacrifices Piercing Howl, Enrage, Death Wish and Imp. Slam in order to get a weapon specialization, Mortal Strike, Blood Frenzy and Second Wind. In most cases, I think you'd be happier with this build; it covers more bases and doesn't rely soley upon Slam/WW for your DPS, plus Sweeping Strikes is a very handy grinding tool when used properly.

If you need more Defense than you currently have, dump the points out of Imp. Bloodrage and put them into Anticipation.

i was looking at that build when i was trying to make one too but when you solo, enrage and DW isn't plausible, and with the extra defense and such you would be getting crit less often... esp considering if you solo you are already fighting mobs lower level than you...

-- and i know you put toughness there, but for tanking the anticipation would be quite better, since like he said, they're really just doing non-heroics for rep, and thusly won't have good enough gear to not have ant.

cleave would be better for him also because most pre-kara stuff is double [or more] at the same time.. and execute is for his pvp?

in either case there are MUCH better alternatives to dps and still tank for pve or pvp...

Assuming equal level mobs Enrage will proc 5% of the time, and he's presumably _not_ DPSing in his tanking gear. It's a pretty worthwhile addition considering the alternatives.

Fair point on Anticipation, but then dump 5 points into it and move two from Imp. Bloodrage into Toughness. Imp. Rage is pretty... meh.
