Priest vs. WarriorFollow

Could anyone give me advice with fighting warriors?

I was ambushed last night by this warrior.. and was just looking for advised

I'm a lvl 32 s priest and he was a lvl 34 warrior (he was using a 2 handed axe). What i basically did was fear, bubble, and try to hit him with mind control (and run him into mobs). It didnt go too well though... he broke the fear charged me again, broke my bubble, and i was dead to hits later. i do realize that i didnt have much of a hope since he's a higher lvl and he did ambush me

I am basically looking for advice when it comes to running into a warrior... which spells should i use...? in what order should i cast them? etc?

If anyone wants to be insanely kind could you post dueling/PvP tactics against all classes?

If there is a post about this i apologize, but i couldn't locate it

Simple tactic....
Psychic Scream -> Mind flay

Rinse and repeat.

I know how well this can work as my main is a warrior and my highest lvl alt is a priest

If you are fighting a decent warrior fear won't do ****.

A warrior will usually charge you so he gains rage which is bad. Just throw up bubble early to cut down some of his rage generating. Have Sw:P ticking and keep urself up with renew and shields, I guess.

If you see him running towards you, try to get Sw:P on him before he charges you (thats impossible at times due to lag even tho charge has only got 20 yd range) which puts him in combat which means he cant use charge. Still try to throw up ur bubble early so he cant gain too much rage.

Oddly enough... Shadow Priest is probably my _worst_ matchup as a Warrior, barring some oddities (Affliction Warlock falls into the same catergory, once they get enough gear). I just won't burst you down, and bubbles are going to ***** my Rage generation pretty hard. That partially comes from leveling, though.

Inner Fire is key. Keep PW:S up as much as possible, load up the DoTs as quick as you can and keep the heals from Vampiric Embrace up. It should get considerably better once you get level 40 (Shadowform's armor), but until then make good use of Renew on yourself as well.

Yea forgot to point that out^^ My scenario is >40 ofc. After 40 it gets a pretty bit easier when fighting a warrior. On 70 you will first have to get some gear :P

fear doesn't work well against warriors, nor does trying to cast any large heal spells (because of their interrupts). a good starting strategy would be to mitigate as much of his damage as you can:

(1) reshield as soon as the debuff clears
(2) keep inner fire up
(3) keep renew ticking ... his weapon does X amount of damage per second, so you want your renews ticking right along with them.

i recommend running through him rather than away, since you'll likely be hamstringed and won't be able to kite him very well. his weapon can't hit you if you're behind him (it's like the LoS games melee classes play with every caster)

if you get a scream off, that's a good time to try for a big heal.

keep you DoT ticking and MB when off cooldown.

This is the situation for what DoTs and HoTs are for. Shadow Word: Pain and Renew should be kept up, with Flash Heals if he's getting you down faster than the renews. Inner Fire should be reapplied every 19 hits on you, and you can wand him between your cooldowns of Psychic Scream if everything else is going well.

I don't have much experience against warriors on my Priest, but I'm at a similar level to you, so here's what I'd do.

You say he ambushed you, so I assume he charged you. That gives him some rage. He's level 34, so he cannot have Mortal Strike yet. That's good.

I would immediately cast PWS and Renew. Then I would hit him with Vampiric Embrace followed immediately by SWP and then I would Mind Blast him. At this point, I would use Psychic Scream. If he's good at all, he's anticipated this and breaks the fear. That doesn't matter. I would then start spamming Mind Flay until he got close again. By this point, I would imagine PWS would be down, so I would recast it and Renew. Then Mind Blast followed by more Mind Flays.
