Warlock ProfessionsFollow

I recently started a warlock, and I was curious which professions are most effective for this class on a pvp basis. I already have a mage with tailoring/enchanting, so I'd like to not repeat either of those unless there is some advantage in doing so (i.e. enchants or tailoring items that only the maker can use). I see a large number of locks choosing engineering, though I'm not sure why...anyone know? The professions I'm considering most strongly are jewelcrafting, mining, herbalism, alchemy, tailoring, and enchanting. Also, I have plenty of cash to help me level professions, so unless absolutely necessary to pick it up I am very willing to pursue jewelcrafting w/o mining, alchemy w/o herbalism, and so on. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Engineering has alot of useful PvP trinkets and whatnot in it - and the majority of warlocks are players who like to PvP alot - makes sense that a lot of locks get this prof. I suppose.

I'd check the list of tradeskill items that engineering has before you decide though.

If you can dish out the monies - I'd go with JC and Eng.

I'm still a noobie lock (20 PvP), but I went Mining/Engineering. At Engineering skill 100 you can make your 1st head armor (stam/spirit, with a bit of armor I think). So my engineering googles will last me until some of the cloth Head armor beats my highest pair.

I also went for it because we kindda lack in the stunning department. Bombs will stun the player(s) for a few seconds, which will help stun casters. Bombs also have a small AoE which may be used to try to unstealth a Rogue/Druid.

There is a scuba helmet you can make to breath under water (for our endless breath it's kind of a waste, but for other classes it's nice). A mining helmet that gives +Mining.

Explosive sheep that act as a pet, and will explode on another player. People say it's spendy, yeah somewhat. I've spent gold on Leathers, and some Gems, but any other profession basically has to do the same. I just sell a few stacks of copper and it makes up for what I bought. [/endsalespitch]

*other good option is Enchant/Cloth. or Mining/jewlcraf.

Just IMO tho

alchemy/herbalism is a very good choice. it also dramatically lowers your raiding costs

tailoring+something to earn cash (herbalism/mining/skinning) is good for getting into the raiding scenario, but you end up in a situation of refusing to upgrade your gear due to how much you spent on the crafted crap.

enchanting+something to each cash is a good combo due to the ring enchants.

and as said, engineering/mining is good for pvp and is continuously being buffed for pve, so imo it's worth it for that too

I leveled with herbalism/alchemy and then dropped herbalism for tailoring. I got totally addicted to potions, I always carry around 2 stacks of 20 and use them all the time.
If I would drop something again it would be tailoring for engineering, but then its the only profession I havent tried yet. I have all the gathering ones, enchanting, JC, BS on my alts. Plus 375/375 cooking/fishing on my lock.

So I guess I would do it mostly out of novelty.
The only prof I would never drop is my alchemy. I took lot of time and effort to get it to 375 and I use it for money making and my own needs every day.

I am far from being expert but I have feeling engineering would help me the best if I decided to go PvP. Just imo.

Um did you guys read the OP post? He said proffs from PvP perspective. Not a proff and gathering proff... He even posted he had the golds to spend to level it, instead of leveling a supporting proff.

Ok, Frozen Shadoweave set is a BOP Tailoring set. However, If your going to do alot of PVP, its kind of pointles to craft this set, as it has no resilience.

I believe, that anything else you might want from tailoring is BoE and you can get a tailor to craft it. (again, tho, you will prolly quickly replace anything with pvp rewards for the resilence)

Enchanting: I think for a lock, this is really a must have. simply because of the enchants, that you can only do to your own items ie rings. (its not that much damage but in pvp every scrap counts). This proffesion also allows you to make golds w/o a supporting Proffesion thru selling mats from disenchanting. You also get the occasional tip from someone for doing their enchants too.

Edit: You can also make Superior Wizard Oil witch is a nice +spl damage buff to weapon, that Persists thru Death.

Engineering: There is so much you can craft that is good in PvP, how can you not pick it? A well timed mortar, to stop a heal, a nice grenade into a group of enemies etc etc etc.. (again you prolly wont use the helm you can make, you will prolly get one with resilience, so you dont have to waste jem slots putting resil on it)--although the helm does kick ***.

JC: Dunno why you would consider this PvP wise. You can buy any jewel cut you want. Once you socket your PvP rewards, this proff has no bearing on PvP. Without mining to mine ores to prospect, you will still have to buy jewels to cut.

Alchemy: This can help by giving you cheap health/mana pots. Really tho, unless you make Flasks (wich are both guardian/battle and persist thru death) you will be burning lots of pots every bg, and at least 2 every arena.

Cooking: Definitely level this for Well Fed buffs. there are buffs for +spl damage, +30stam/spirit etc etc. You can also make golds off this, selling your foods you cook. (if you farm just about anything that drops meat/fish etc you can turn that previously trashed/vended food into quite a bit of golds)

So id say from a straight PVP perspective, assuming you got the cash to support leveling it, Engineering/Enchanting is your best bet.
