Pet's DashFollow

#1 Aug 26 2007 at 9:59 PM Rating: Decent
I'm a new hunter at level 36. I have the black lion tamed close to ratchet, at level 23 i think. after all the way to 36 i realised my pet doesn't have dash. and it's not shown in the beast training list (nor the pet trainer). so does the pet come with dash itself? or i can train it in some otherwise. if the pets come with it, how come most of the cats and dogs classes have it, but i dont (after seeing a level 36 pig doing it), and please would anyone tell me which pets (rare preferrable) have dash on them straight after the tame, thank you.

You can always find everything you would ever want to know about pets at petopia. With that being said, if Humar didn’t come with dash, you need to go find a creature that has dash, tame said creature, use it for a few fights – until something pops up in your dialogue box that says “you have learned a new ability: dash (rank 1)” (or whatever it says) – and then discard this pet, if you wish, and teach dash to Humar. And the ability you saw a pig do is different – it’s charge, and only boars get it.

So check out Petopia for all of your pet questions. You’ll find a list of pets there that will teach you dash. And, because I’m so nice, I’ll even tell you one creature around your level that you can learn dash from. Bonepaw Hyenas in Desolace have rank 1 of dash.

As a side note, if you didn’t know how to teach Humar dash, I’m assuming you don’t have the higher ranks of claw or bite, either. You’ll learn new ranks of these abilities the same way. You can also check which creatures have which abilities by casting beast lore on them.

Finally, you may want to browse the sticky a bit. I’ll bet this stuff is covered in there.

to mikeyvach, thank you very much for your information, infact i'm on my way to desolace while replying this message. so i will just have my beast track on all the way till i find dashing hyenas :)

btw, i have another question, is it true that with the high level beast, the better stats it has. say a new tamed beast at level 36 (without training) has better armor than level 36 (but originally was level30, but trained with armor and stamina). i have a personal experience of this. though they are the 2 completely different class of beasts, but i feel quite strange.

thank you again for your time and effort :)

a lvl 70, newly trained pet (without any abilities) will have the exact same stats as a pet of the same family leveled from 1-70 (without any abilities)
They will also have the same exact amount of training points to spend
(loyalty lvl -1) x lvl so max (6-1)x70=350 points.

The only differences between pets (of the same family) are how they look and what you train them.

I hope you had good luck with the hyenas, because... many (I hope it's not all!) of the hyenas there travel in very nasty packs, which would make it hard to tame.

You can get dash from tigers in Stranglethorn, and at your level you could also get Prowl for your cat too, if you wanted it. It's mostly useful if you are PVPing and are a night elf. Otherwise I wouldn't really bother too much about it.

couldnt prowl be usefull even if your not a NE?

could it, in a pvp setting, lure people into thinking your pet is dead, thus understimating you or attacking you while they them selves are at less then optimum stats?

or what about prowl + eyes of the beast for a nice suprise? or scouting when a rogue is not available in an instance?

honestly, i think hunters as a class should have some form of weak stealth. but meh.
