No, Shadow Priests just kick more *** with rogues than Holy Priests do. Setup only matters intensely in the upper brackets.
A rogue with any form of a priest is a good idea though, mainly due to the fact that priests are an anti-paladin with their dispel. As it stands now, War/Pally is the strongest and hence most popular class combo out there. If you made your team revolve around just being able to bring that combo down, it will serve you well.
What?
WHAT?
Are you
stupid?
Holy/disc priests are the
best partner for a rogue in 2v2. 99% of the rogues you'll see at high ratings are there with 1) a healer or 2) a lock.
Reason? Rogues have very little survivability when placed in front of classes like warriors, BM hunters, frost mages, etc. With a healer whose HPS outheals your opponents DPS (i.e. a priest who has large heals), many DPS/DPS classes become trivial based on how geared you and your priest are.
Just to put it in perspective, my priest partner had never seriously done PvP before, ever. With him as a 28/33/0 Blessed Resilience spec and with a measly 8k HP self buffed with around 70 resilience, we got to ~1600 in 22 games. He's all but quit his priest now, but we did very well together.
I'd honestly be shocked if a shadow priest can do better than a holy/disc in conjunction with a rogue. That's what's called a DPS/DPS team, and a shadow priest doesn't put out enough damage, nor have enough CC to make it work. The best two classes IMO to go DPS/DPS with are locks and frost mages.
