Question on UI for WarriorsFollow

#1 Aug 22 2007 at 3:56 PM Rating: Decent
Are there any links, user guides, or reccomendations on how a level 60 Warrior should setup their Blizzard User Interface for combat?

Should a scroll line exist for each type of Stance
(i.e. Battle/Defensive/Beserker)?

What spells (Battle Actions) are best to use?

What order should the spells (Battle Actions) be cast?

Are UI Macros difficult to master if you're not very computer savvy?

Thanks.

the best abilities you can use is very subjective to the situation at hand, if you have someone casting something, you want to disrupt that, if not, you want to do something damaging.. you'll get it as you play it more and more and just mess around. i played my friends warrior for the first time and he was 60, i couldn't kill anything efficiently for the life of me, but once he showed me and told me what to do more carefully and descriptively i was even able to raid for him a couple times.

now i have my own warrior and love every second of it :D

ui macros aren't very difficult, but you want to stay away from them, i know tanks that have everything on macros, and they're usually the worst ones, every situation can change quite quickly and you need to be ready for that with your hand on your mouse/keyboard to correct the state back to "safe, tank and spank mode"

as far as certain macros like saying "i am using taunt on %t" while you taunt maybe helpful, it is supremely easy to make and i don't really count it as a macro. you can get an addon or two also [like taunt buddy] that will /rw or /pary or /raid say "my taunt was resisted on %t" autmoaticall which works a lot better really. [and you can customize it where it's said, in what chat, and how you want it to be said]

I've read RpZip's comprehensive look at the Warrior. He goes into great detail on all the spells/combat actions a Warrior can make. He has done an excellent job.

However, I'm asking how some of you setup your UI action bars, and what order you cast your spells/combat actions. I realize it is subjective depending on the situation, but give me some examples on how you have setup your own UI action bars.

hmm...

i use default interface --

battle stance i have
1 - execute
2 - revenge
3 - bloodthirst
4 - charge
5 - rampage
6 - shield bash
7 - dont know , never use 7-` really :)
= - [normal epic] mount

defensive stance in non-prot

1 - heroic strike
2 - sunder
3 - bloodthirst
4 - revenge
5 - shield block
6 - rampage
7 - shield bash
8 - spell reflect
9 - disarm
` - intervene
= - [normal epic] mount

zerker stance

1 - execute
2 - heroic strike
3 - blood thirst
4 - charge
5 - pummel
6 - rampage
7 - blood craze
8 - berzerker rage
9 - blood fury
` - dont rememver `
= - [normal epic] mount

right about my main bar i have my shouts, cleave, shoot, thunderclap, bloodrage, retalliation, shield wall, some repeats of talents also like blood fury also.
on the right side of that [the right bottom bar] i have consumables, talents like smithing, engineering, first aid, flying mount

my 2 right action bars -- left bar, top 4 slots are pots / healthstones, the rest is various gear that is "use". the right bar on top i have heroic strike, victory rush, pummel, and a bunch of other gear that is either "use" or situational.

i play with my mouse for movement [like all good players do ;)] and i find that most of the time when i fight mobs / players my mouse is near the top right part of the screen, so i have 2 areas to hit HS with, or pummel, also when i get my target to charge, i find it easier doing victory rush, moving up one to click HS and hit BT with 3

my main non-default keys are f1 for battle stance, f2 for defensive, and f3 for zerker so i can hit 4 to charge and f3 before i even get to the mob while keeping my mouse on the top right or wherever i need it.

edit : order of attacks

charge, change into zerker, WW and BT [i'm fury] and to rage dump, i use heroic strike, depending on the mob [or pvp] and depending on my rage, if someone dodges, i get into battle to overpower and of course, pummel during casts. when people are getting away or a mob is running towards more, intercept it. i spam executes while soloing and pvping whenever a target gets to less than 19% but in raids [against bosses] i keep my same rotation of BT + WW and use execute for a full rage dump instead of HS.

by now, there is pretty much a UI for anything you want to do in game... so to answer this question, you really need to know what you want and ask a more specific question...

www.curse-gaming.com
is pretty much the place to get most UI's

http://singularity.osgamers.com/forum/
is a a forum where you can get info and help on All Deuce UI compilation
a compilation is a set of ui's... go there and look at some screenshots.. they are pros and very friendly so good place to learn.

http://ledmirage.net/forums/
is a forum for folks who use Insomniax compilation

normally, aside from the aesthetics, i use the following UI's
Bartender (customizes action bars)
Quartz (casting bars and swing timer)
Chronometer (to see my buffs and debuffs as a bar)
agUF (customize my unit frames)

and there are many more... i use All Deuce btw.

hmm... you mean sequence of attacks? against who? caster? pve? pvp?

What order should the spells (Battle Actions) be cast?

there are some easy macros and some more complex... the FAQ should give you some macros to play around and try.

Thanks for the detailed reply Russki, that was exactly what I was looking for! Right now my UI is setup haphazardly/mishmash. I really need to get it organized so I can be more efficient in combat, and swift in the execution of it.
