whatever you want to play, trolls can be good too, esp on encounters that everyone takes damage on [like nightbane or gruul or shade of aran etc.] the zerking buff they get can be quite awesome with flurry active.

blood elves are also good at pvp with the silence thing, not just undead. you also forget that orcs get a stun resist too, which also makes them quite formidable in pvp.

war stomp is fun with tauren, but it's really an all or nothing move and usually isn't regarded as being too effective if you're playing against people of high caliber

Xordon was joking about Blood Elves. I had a solid laugh from it. Wish I could rate him up, but alas.

Anyway, my rambling point is you can't make a Blood Elf warrior.

As for the OP, the advice given by Jimpadan is solid. I'll explain.

Orcs are best for PVE DPS, with Trolls in second. Reason? Orcs get a racial move that dramatically increases attack power (decreases healing like Mortal Strike though) for a brief period of time as well as a flat increase in axe skill (+9 which acts as 0.36% more crit chance as well as an increase in hit and possibly attack power? not sure, all I've ever paid attention to is the crit chance, I'm a crit fanatic) and a resist to stuns. Trolls get their berserker move that increases damage depending on how wounded you are.

Taurens are best for tanking. Pretty obvious why, they get a 5% increase to HP as well as a decent AOE stun.

Undead are best for pvp. Reason why is Will of the Forsaken, an extra fear break.

shows how much i care about those damn elves :D

as far as the weapon skills, this is taken from wowwiki's research page

Let's say you increase your weapon skill by 4.

Against a mob 3 levels higher than you, you get: 0.8% lower chance to miss,
0,4% lower chance to get dodged, 2,4% to be parried, and a 0,8% higher
chance to crit."

also The player will gain 0.1% to their critical strike rating per weapon skill against monsters above their level.

Hmm, I got the 0.36% number from my character screen. Whenever I went up one level of weapon proficiency, I would get 0.04% crit chance to show up on my screen. I'm probably completely wrong and wowwiki is probably right.

4.8% increase for 4 skill, means 1.2% per skill, and in the event of a +9 skill racial: 10.8%.
