Need Help! What Spec Should I be At 70?Follow

#1 Aug 18 2007 at 3:13 AM Rating: Decent
I Just hit 70. I'm right now spec Ret. was great for grindin and hit Lv 70 quick. Problem is, I tried BG (Arathi) and once i got in I get Razzed!
"USELESS RET PALLY GO AWAY"
Being i have been Grindin the last 20+ Lv or so to get 70 and haven't BG since then i respond.
I'm like, "I Just Turned 70 and wanted to try BG"
he then responds.
"Get PVP gear, GO HOLY, Learn your class"
I recently picked up 2 Hand Mace :THE HAMMER OF DESTINY
But i guess that'll useless now since everybody wants Holy or Ret.
And to that, I come to ask some advice on the boards.
Any and All would be welcome

If you want to PvP as Ret, then PvP as Ret. Ignore the naysayers.

HOWEVER, you do need to understand just how incredible healing is in BGs. A single healer can negate the efforts of several enemy attackers in many situations. Splice Holy with a bit of Prot, and you'll be a very survivable healer.

I can only agree here.

Retro is the only viable DPS spec, although it lacks some goodies. This isn't to be discussed here since all threads about Retro end up being 2 pages long.

However, as Poldaran said, healing is absolutely amazing in PvP. Hide behind a tree and keep someone up while he just cleaves through enemies. Holy/Prot will do a fantastic job for this.

Play what you enjoy, that is the best advice I can give.

As it stands though Holy is in demand for both BG, Arena and PvE play. Heals win BG. If you had a serious hard on for PvP you would consider the build. No dps but the simple truth is that you are doing more for your bg team than any 3 ret pallies. 83% of all end game pallies are Holy, and for good reason.

Prot is perfectly acceptable tanking spec if you want to go down that road. PvE both group and solo it does well. Not a good choice if you are going to PvP, however you can still have a healing set and heal in BG just fine.

Ret is the whipping boy of WoW. With the right amount of gear your dps isn't horrible but your lack of CC or other utility spells makes you kind of bunk in BG since you are so easy to kite. The trouble is getting that gear takes a lot of work, greens and blues aren't gonna cut it and no one is going to want to bring a ret pally along for anything so bridging the gear gap is all but impossible as ret. Most successful and well geared ret pallies had to go Holy to get groups and raid spots and farm gear then respec back to ret.

umm Heal Spec if your going to do alot of raiding beacause all your gonna do is be a cleanse bot, back up healer.

Ret if you still plan on doing pvp.

And prot if you plan to off tank when your raid.

do what you want.... people are to crazy about YOU HAVE TO BE _____.. if u like ret then stay ret, if you have a loving guild and decent gear you can dps/offheal (yay for emergency times) cause theyre nice to have for their versatility (and buffs) its not illegal and you're not gonna get like wow excommunicated or anything

I've raided with ret pallies and I've bged with ret pallies and theyre fine.. repetance or w/e its called is a nice thing to have at any time and has saved my *** a few times and i was a mage :D

you dont HAVE to go holy..
you can go prot and beat all the warriors and rogues :D
you can go ret and show everyone that yea..ret pallies can be good noob.. :)

my personal pref is not to heal, i find it entertaining to do every once in a while but not so much to spec it and bgs seem boring just running around healing people (although i do give major props to people who do and thank them for all the heals)

anyways w/e long post short. DO WHAT YOU WANT RAWR >:3
