Ok

This is... to say the least embarrasing for me to ask. But, I will. I am currently leveling undead warrior (lvl 14) on Akama (new to WoW). My question is - um.... how do you tank? Do you just run through your abilities making any that cause "threat" a priority? I know there is a lot that goes into tanking. I have a level 75 NIN on FFXI and leveling PLD on FFXI. I know about hate generation through provoke / job abilities and all. But, what is the WoW warriors equivalent to provoke? When you first engage a MOB during group runs what is the first ability to use? I have scanned the forums and haven't found anything that talks specifically about tanking at low levels and only find "coming soon"

I ask this so I have an idea before going into a group and making a complete moron of myself. Which I have already done by accidently attacking someone that helped me the other day by selecting him instead of the mob. He was an alliance player. He killed me and left. LOL. oops

Thanks

You use Sunder when Shield Block and Revenge are on CoolDown. You use Thunder Clap on multiple mobs. You always tank in defensive stance, and preferably with a shield.

This is pretty much the basics. At higher levels you get Shield Slam and Devastate if you're prot specced. In that case you should always use SS when it's CD:ed. You should sunder 5 times and spam Devastate instead of additional sunders. You should also still use Revenge and Shield Block when every they're up.

It's kinda hard to cover such a big thing, if there are specific info you're looking for, type it out and we'll help you.

Xordon got it pretty much covered, although he forgot to meantion Taunt as an ''Oh snap!'' (to word it differently than what most people would say) button.

also, use HS as a rage dump if it doesn't limit your usage of sunder/sb->revenge sice it doesnt trigger the global cooldown and does quite a bite of threat.

Get "Provoke" out of your vocabulary. Pretend Utsi: Ni is revenge & must be monitored. Keep an eye out for it to light up. Generate a rythum, at your level almost anything will work (dont stress out, just try to find ways to improve your style).

Ninja = taking no damage is primary (was at least when I played).
Warrior = more abilities used, more hate.

Sunder has good hate generation, but me personaly, I hardly used it at lower levels. And still hardly use it at Lv47.

With Imp. Thunderclap (talents): Shield Block > Revenge > Thunderclap > Demo Shout, and then I Sunder (mostly surounding mobs using a mouseover macro) does the trick. Any odd balls get Taunted with my Mouseover Taunt macro.

Good Luck, and I found tanking in FFXI (75nin, 75pld) boring compared to Warrior tanking. It's so much more exciting tanking 3-5 mobs than just one ;)
