Mods / Addons for Shadow PriestsFollow

#1 Aug 16 2007 at 6:17 PM Rating: Decent
What are necessary mods and addons for a shadow priest raiding and doing alittle PvP? Also, I don't know if its just me, but I tend to download some pretty redundent and unnecessary mods, does anyone know of a list of some sort of FAQ that I can look up the "universal" addons for priests? Never played a priest before or even a caster for that matter so I'm a little lost.

Thanks!

A threat meter, either Omen or KTM whatever your raid uses. A timer that watches your dots, such as DoTimer so you know when to recast them. CT raid assist or ora2 and something like Deadly Boss Mods for all purpose raid warnings and raid admin stuff. Those are the ones you NEED. I'm sure there are others that would be useful though.

Not an add-on, but you need a shackle macro for Kara.

I use one that has /focus to set my focus target and another that is
/cast [target=focus] Shackle Undead

My actual macro is more complex, but no time to look it up in-game right now :) Go to shadowpriest.com for more macro details, and for ANY shadowpriest info really, it's great.

Agree with above poster.

Omen/KTM, DoTimer, Deadly Boss Mods a shackle macro.

I love swstats too (to see how I compare to my peers).

I also use MobHealth2 to see percentages/amount of mob health.

I would go with Omen over KTM.

DoTimer or Classtimers for tracking your SW:P, VT, VE, Misery, etc.

Those are really your essentials. I'd pick up Fubar for any class, and I'd get Ora2 for raiding. It will show tankboxes if your raid leaders set them up, and can display warning messages from raid leaders mid screen from raid leaders. These can be messages about an upcoming boss ability that you need to be aware of.

Omen (threat meter), ClassTimers (DoT tracking as well as trinkets, bloodlust, meta gem procs, etc), Grid (raidframes), Quartz casting bar with /stopcasting macros (damn near required if you want to maximize your damage - allows you to "cancel" your spells early and still have them go off). DeadlyBossMods really helps in raids, especially in 25-mans.

I'd also highly recommend some kind of bar mod (I use TrinityBars personally), new unit frames (I use Perl Classic), and some kind of scrolling combat text (just getting into messing around with a few different ones now - currently using SCT/SCTD). If you're looking for a damage meter, I'd highly recommend Recount; as a raid leader, that's easily the #1 tool for figuring out who's pulling their weight in a raid and who's slacking off or not doing things right.
