White crit higher than MS crit...why!?Follow

#1 Aug 15 2007 at 12:39 PM Rating: Decent
Ok, so I just want to slip in a question real quick. The other day I was OT in Kara and my normal white crits were in between 1400-1800 and my MS was normally around 700 to sometimes 1.5k. I don't have the greatest gear, but my Crit % with the buffs and everything was at 40%. I just feel like a chode because my MS crits are weaksauce compared to my auto swings. I sometimes feel like I have to mash the button harder to make it crit higher than an auto attack. So what is MS dependant of? AP or Crit%? (I already know about weapon speed and how it factors in, or is MS completely dependant of the friggin weapon itself?)

Well... MS is normalized, but it's unlikely that you get higher normal swing than MS:es if you've got mediocre gear.

I can't really see how this is possible... You'd have to have a 3.8 weapon and over 4k AP for this to happend. Even more if you've got Impale... Are you sure you have the highest MS rank trained? Still, even then it's unlikely. I don't know what to make of it.

It's weird. Right now my crit chance sits just below 35% in berserker stance (won't see that in the armory as my friend decided to equip a different trinket and I haven't logged in since to change it--I checked the armory thats how I know).

I promise you that I will get a 1400 white crit, then my next MS will be around 700 on that same target. Don't get me wrong, I do get the occasional 2200+ MS on a clothie and/or rogue/hunter. But more often than not I feel that I am just wasting my MS. When I respec I always learn everything I can and it automatically puts the highest rank on the toolbar...but I'll check into that.

Don't mind my spec, it was a rushed one as I was needed to OT in Kara.

Here is the link to my armory profile.

GEEKSTOMPER

EDIT: Thats not my normal weapon. I have the Plasma Rat Hyper Scythe. I'm working on gettin the Epic Polearm from being Exalted with Lower City.

Unless you're critting a white hit with 5 sunders with your highest end and that mob dies, and you go onto a non-sundered mob with more armor etc it shouldnt happen.

It seems that you might be misreading ms crits for regular hits... 700 ms crits in general sound almost impossible.

You being the 70 you are if you are indeed critting for 700 with MS there is something wrong with you. As a 52 warrior i MS crit clothies for 1.1k and MS crit normal mobs for about 700-800.

So, yea it better be non-crits.

MS can crit. It doesn't mean that MS always crits.

MS does pretty much the same damage as a white hit, but it's an "extra" hit and it does an anti-heal debuff. It doesn't mean it hits extraordinarily harder than normal blows or that it crits any more often than normal blows.

As someone mentioned before ... after respecing remember to train higher ranks of MS. Otherways you probably spam rank 1 MS and thats why the damage is so low.

I think I just have more White crits than I do MS crits. But when MS crits its pretty huge. I don't really have to worry about that now, I spec'd back to prot as its the only way to get a decent amount of runs anymore.

I never had sunders up and then used MS. There's just not enough time to do that in pvp. =)

Except it gets the 20% increased crit damage from impale. So an ms crit should be substantially larger than a white crit. Unless you somehow managed to avoid impale when speccing arms/fury.

Even rank 1 MS should still out damage white damage.
