I'm currently a level 52 SV spec . I was wondering when I should try to go to outlands... I've thought about having a guildy summon me around 54-55, but do you think that would be to soon?
Should I just wait until I can use the portal?

Outlands questionFollow
For questing and such level 58 is the lowest you should go to Outlands. Anything lower and you'll barely survive fights with any solo mob in Hellfire Peninsula.
For tradeskills, level 51 is the lowest you should visit Outlands. At level 51 you can pick up 'master' level, i.e. max skill of 375. However since you can't pass through the portal until level 58, you'll have to find a couple high level buddies and warlock to summon you to Outlands.
For convenience however I think everybody at every level should have Shatt as their hearthstone. Its just so convenient to be able to walk through one of the portals in the central area and be in any of the major cities in a blink. That will of course require you to have two friends and warlock to summon you to Shatt the first time.

You can also get a mage to portal you to shatt. Also I think the level is 50 not 51.
I agree, having a hearth in shatt is very very nice. As for going there early, I've heard of hunters and locks and the occasional mage going at 56ish and grinding on the lower mobs to 58. I went at 58, but I would expect 56 would not be too bad. There should be enough quests in sithilus and EPL though, and even with the outland xp boost, questing is still faster.

yeah, I went and set my hearth there the other night just for the portals... they are nice.
As a hunter you can probably go as early as 56. I am BM spec and I tear through multiple mobs several levels above me at same time, I routinely on purpose engage 3 or 2 mobs 2-3 lvls above me and kill them with ease. Also Things like soloing 3 lvl 59s at same time at 54 with 53 pet. Also I am severely under geared, I got Mara bow, around lvl 40 avg lvl of green gear, some of them lower lvl, just to point out how powerful we are in pve. Well at least with a pet equipped with screech. ;p
