Viability of different MH/OH Follow

I was browsing the O-boards (yea yea I know, I'm a glutton for punishment) and was reading a post about maximizing raid DPS. In the post the OP mentioned a rarely used spec utilizing MH: Fist and OH: sword.

Sadly the next line was "I won't go into that here".

However it intrigued me, and seems like it could work, basically spec full into Fists and swords for the 5% crit on MH fist and chance for extra attack on OH sword which would actually trigger a MH hit (someone correct me if I am wrong on this ASAP :P ) Since basically that is the key to this working.

I have available to me Big Bad Wolf's Paw and Merciless Gladiator's Quickblade for this. Both with Mongoose.

The spec I was planing on using is: 16/45/0

Here is my Armory profile incase (As the author mentioned) there is some gear dependancy on this being optimal and I should perhaps wait:

**I am still raid buffed so my stats are a bit higher than normal at first glance.

-Has anyone else tried this?
-Did you like it?
-Was it better DPS than normal combat swords or combat fists?
-How does it fair in PvP?

Thanks!

^edit for crappy linking.

I brought it up here before.

It worked great for a while, but I believe that Blizzard quietly broke the functionality... Rogue friend of mine respecced to try it and said that it wasn't working properly, unless his 2.7 speed mainhand fist weapon was hitting for exactly as much as his 1.5 speed offhand did normally.

maybe he wasn't experienced with fist weps and didn't have it's skill very high? idk, I guess that's just what I'm hoping. that spec seems pretty interesting, and I might just try it ;) however, if what you say is true then...I would also like some more backup on this. I'm not going to jump into something that doesn't work.

and btw, nice gear Tse, and also nice spec. If anyone can say this does or doesn't work, plz speak out, because I also want to try that spec.

if the PTR is up today I will try out the spec and see if I can get some evidence either way.

He's normally Fist/Fist, he bought the Sword OH from Arenas to test the spec out with. No dice.

Before L70, there are some nice ones that you can buy in the Consortium outpost in Netherstorm. They don't have any rep requirements, and they're fairly cheap as well. After that, there's some upgrades in L70 instances, and of course, Arena and the 10-man content.

then I have no clue..well, honest to say, I normaly don't spend my whole battle looking at my damage, but I can say that I'm pretty sure it's where it's supposed to be. however, I use swords. when the guy was hitting and it seemed like it was hitting like it's speed was 1.5..was this before or after he used the spec?(fist/sword) because if it was after then...what the hell happened there? can anyone or has anyone tested this spec and had the same thing happen?

Did some testing and it appeared the MH was not getting the extra swing. I decided to put in a GM ticket and ask and I was able to get a quick response.

Summary: Sword spec procs proc for the hand that generated the initial swing. so if the offhand sword procs then your offhand will get another swing.

sorry for the poor quality on the jpegs, I don't have photoshop on my new PC yet so I had to use paint.
