I've read Azuarc's guide and I didn't see anything mentioning pet attack speed changes. Does anyone knows if rare animals like Broken Tooth have reduced attack speed, or has that not been changed? The only thing I know is the pursuit speeds of certain rare monsters have been changed to the average pursuit speed.

Also, I'm having troubling deciding if I should get a wolf or a cat. I've recently decided that my boar lacks in dps, and I want to get a stronger pet since I'm BM and will be depending on my pet for most of my damage. This link shows the difference between the two. I've been leaning towards wolves because they're even in hit points, armor, and dps. It seems like they'll be able to do a decent amount of dps, but still have tanking capability. They also have Furious Howl which seems a nice little buff for my group members. Cats do more dps, but they seem more useful while doing PvP & Dungeons where they won't be taking that much damage compared to while I'm soloing. Could anyone with more experience about these two types of animals give me some suggestions? If anyone can help me out with either of my questions I'd appreciate it a lot. Thank you.

Pet speeds are normalized. Talents (Frenzy and Serpent's Swiftness) and Cobra Reflexes are the only ways to improve pet attack speed.

Don't worry about pet stats. It's the skills that matter. Between charge and gore your pig will do damage comparable to a cat and better than a wolf. A wolf will not add as much with Furious Howl as you think, but it is a slight amount of AoE aggro. I'd recommend the cat or the boar, depending on if you need stealth or not.

However, for PvP I'd get either a wind serpent or a boar.
For solo I'd get a bird (bat, owl, or carrion bird).
For DPS I'd get a scorpid or a wind serpent.

I've had a very tough time pulling adds off of my owl when she's having at it with Screech - a friend of mine uses an owl as his pet and he's a Marksman. As a beast master myself I like my cat, but I love my owl. In my somewhat limited experience as a hunter, I believe owls, or any other bird who can use screech, is probably the most well-rounded pet you can have. Yes apes are better at multimob tanking, but they eat odd and usually hard-to-find food and can't learn dash.

well if i had to choose between a cat and a wolf i'd go cat but dont count out the boar......it has charge and gore which cause massive damage together.....charge adds attack power to your pets next attack then gore has a 50% chance to do double damage and then you can crit on the double damage....plus they can learn dash so you get a defensive pet with decent damage and good speed

I usually have gore off and keep bite on. Bite doesn't consume as much focus since it's a 10 sec CD, but my boar can keep using gore which will drain its focus pretty quickly. Even if the gore does double the damage, its bite still does more. I really only keep gore on when I'm PvPing or doing something that doesn't require my pet to tank.

If rare beasts like Broken Tooth don't have the 1.0 attack speed anymore, do you know the certain attack speeds for each time of beast? The only one I somewhat remember is that boars have a 2.0 attack speed. Thanks for all the help you guys have provided so far =)
