Might this work with Volley to help the tank gain AE threat?

Probably either for the first 3 seconds of volley, or just the first 3 hits (i.e. if there are 5 mobs, and you volley, you will get 1 second of tank getting threat on 3 mobs and you getting threat on 2, and then 5 seconds of you getting threat on 5). Could try it out though.

I was trying this out yesterday on my pet and with players in instances. I noticed a few things:

- when you MD volley, the MD icon will remain in your 'buff' list for the duration of the volley and it will read '3' shots remaining the entire time.

- the volleyed mobs will NOT aggro you; however, KLH threatmeter doesnt seem to register extra threat on the MD target as a result of volley.

- at the end of the volley, you can still fire 3 separate shots which will decrease the 'shots remaining' count on the MD icon. Threat from these shots will be properly allocated to the MD target.

So i dunno, maybe MD + volley is broken or bugged or something. Maybe others have had different results?

99% sure it's completely broken, and it will not consume any charges but will transfer the threat.

Handy for bosses with AE components for a large threat boost.

Best MD shots I have found are start with aimed, then do a distracting, then followed by auto (or ss if you can squeeze it off). In most circumstances this will be the best threat adding shots you can get off to add to the hate. Me being an SV hunter, I usually pop readiness towards the beginning of boss fights as this will establish hate better on the tank to keep those pesky enhanc. shammies and mages far enough off the list to make an impact. Also on the longer fights I can get a 3rd MD off and maybe a 4th depending on who it is to add to the already well established tank if we have a lot of melee crit monsters in the group.

This is news to me. I thought a misdirected shot had to do damage to transfer threat; is that not the case? If not, I'm definitely going to start using Distracting shot in my MD rotation.

I'm not sure if its intentional or bugged, but it adds nice hate...I have watched the KTM and it definately makes a difference. More so than arcane or a ss from my experimentation.

Edit, as Misdirection is quoted "Threat caused by your next 3 attacks is redirected to the target raid member", so it looks like it was just a smart idea on my part to add hate......doesn't have to be damage, just threat!

Distracting shot is fixed though, you can generate more threat with other skills once you get decent gear.

As we certain about distracting shot being properly applied to Misdirection? I tried it yesterday in Heroic Slave Pens but to my dismay my 'shots remaining' count stayed at 3. I was unable to verify any transfer of threat because the tank wasn't running KLH.

That is odd. I've used Distracting Shot all the time with Misdirection, and I think it uses a charge.

You may say that your shots are going to be doing more thread than Distracting but I would say that is only if you are a Marksman or in raiding gear. My character is a Beastmaster with some good heroic and crafted pieces, and my auto and steady shots do NOT do 900 non-crit damage. Distracting Shot is a solid 900 threat, so I will use it in Misdirection.

Ok, all that out of the way - Volley+Misdirection really rocks. It's awesome for soloing/duoing level 60 dungeons by putting the threat for a group onto your pet.

But, I think they're making it consume charges in the next patch. :(

Patch 2.20 states, "Volley: This spell is now affected by area damage caps. Its bonus damage coefficients have also been increased. It also correctly consumes charges of Misdirection." So right now threat seems to be tranfered but not consuming one of your Misdirections. So when 2.20 goes live it will be corrected.

As a personal question, is it possible to setup macros to automatically cast on a certain group member, i.e. pet or tank? If so please post the macros. Thanks.
