When do you usually use this spell. Is this mainly a PvP spell? I just picked it up last night when I hit level 33 (I put 3 points into elemental precision as I got sick of all of the resists).

Since it is a daze and not a stun, it just slows them down. Is this just the fire's mages Cone of Cold when AoE grinding? Does anyone use it on one on one PvE (didn't seem very mana efficient though I love it as an instant just in case).

Haven't went into the BG's yet with it, figure I will wait until 38ish to give it a shot. Just wanted to know what you experienced mages do with this spell. Thank you!!
#2REDACTED, Posted: Aug 12 2007 at 12:01 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) I really like it in both PVP and PVE. In PVE, generally, when i have combustion stacked over 5 times, and then unleash it on 10+ mobs. Especially in parties, when tanks pull 4-5 mobs and have good aggro, unleash it, the combined damage you do makes it the most mana-efficient spell in WoW.

Hello, yes you guessed it right.. It is another fire mage's instant AOE dmg burst spell, mainly aimed at PvP content. The good thing is that daze effects cannot be dispelled, so you can get some distance between you and your enemy.
It does decent damage too with alot of spell dmg, but is a mana eater too.. Not sure how efective it will be @ lvl38. You will have to use it wisely :)

i am currently working on twinking my 39 mage and i use this on Druid or pally flag carriers being that they shift or blessing of freedom...i also use it when i'm carrying the flag myself when my frost nova is on cooldown...and another time i use it is just as a regular AoE like arcane explosion or cone of cold...GL

Since fire mages do intense damage in PvP, run into a fighting crowd and blow your BW off... sometimes you can see tons of crits fill up your screen.

Not something you should usually do, but it's always fun.

Actually, I want to say there is one way to dispel it(three if you count self cast only, long cooldown abilities). I want to say Blessing of Freedom will remove the effects(as it is not a mob style daze). If not, I'm willing to bet that Blessing of Protection will do it(and I'm pretty sure that Divine Shield and Ice Block will remove it).

My favorite tactic in BG PvP has always been to Combustion -> Flame strike -> Blast Wave -> Dragon's Breath large groups. Especially groups of Horde members clustered in the doorway with Van in AV. Add in FN and then AE Spam til you or they are dead.

My roommate and I wiped the entire enemy force that way once. Good times.

Any spell that has an additional effect, especialy movement related, can & will be handy for PvP.

PvE is more situational. I judge my AOE spells based on the number of mobs. Example; for me, CoC is valuable with 2+ mobs. The more mobs, the more mana effecient.

Sad times.... Pol talking about killing horde. :-(

My favorite AV thing to do when I was elemental spec was to use the frostwolf trinket which hearths you back to your base, frost nova, blastwave (ooooh, shatter critzz) and arcane explosion till death (which is usually about 1.5 seconds after the blastwave). Die you little gnomes!
