This post is taken right from a post on the Petopia Blog, so I'll give you a link, and copy+paste the post, nothing else.

Syrelil, a Level 45 Blood Elf Hunter from Sentinels, let me know yesterday that there is something special about the tan wolf Spot who hangs out on Theramore Isle. Well, I should say that there is something else special about Spot — the first special thing, of course, is that he is friendly to the Alliance and can only be tamed by the Horde (and only with some risk, since he’s inside the Alliance stronghold at Theramore Isle). But the second special thing: Spot barks when you click on him, even after he is tamed.

Syrelil sent me a link to a video of Spot (renamed Bullet) in action so you can hear what he sounds like. I checked it out with the help of a character on my husband’s account, and indeed other players can click on Spot and hear him bark. It’s really cute. (Like most of the click-voice bits, only the person who clicks hears the barking — which is probably good, since you don’t want people making your pet bark at you all day long.)

The only other pet that I can think of that has a special behavior like this is Arikara, the Horde-only quest-spawned windserpent of Thousand Needles. Arikara’s special behavior only happens when you call him — he appears in a whirlwind of smoke! (I think this also happens when you dismount and Arikara re-appears, but I was having trouble distinguishing that because he seems to always appear inside my character.) There’s a terrible picture (but it’s what I had available) to the left.

There used to be a third pet with a special behavior in this vein: Silithid Protectors are a Horde-only quest-spawned crab in the Barrens. (I see a trend with the Horde thing here.) They do a text emote when they spawn during the quest, and originally they would continue to emote this text when they were called after they were tamed. At some point, though, Blizzard fixed this behavior and now these guys are fairly normal crabs.

Are there any other pets with special behaviors that I am missing? If you can think of one, please let me know!

Well, I did edit it a little, to make a link work, and there is a picture on the original page with the windserpent appearing, but IDK how to copy it here, so I just gave the link to the blog.

That is actually very interesting, these pets are very cool. Although not possesing the stylish looks of Humar, or a Warpstalker, they still would seem to make a pretty interesting pet.

Hmm... the windserpent... If I tamed one I can see it now! THe ultimate macro:
/summon pet
/em <Player's Name> appears in a flash of smoke!

Or something like that... anyway, happy hunting!

The blogger took note of one thing that has annoyed me since I first started to get interested in the more unique pets out there. Namely that Horde has access to several pets that is nigh impossible for an Alliance to get. Echeyakee anyone? Or should you be closer to 70, his Winterspring lookalike? Since I first tamed Humar, I've periodically checked the spawn site of Echeyakee. Staying shadowmelded and hoping to quickly steal the spawn, hopefully managing to kite Echeyakee away from the Horde long enough to get him tamed.

Never seen him be spawned.

When I hit 60, I simply had to acknowledge that Echeyakee was out of my reach. Winterspring then. I have no accurate numbers, but the time spent in Shadowmeld, hoping to quickly slaughter the Hordie making his lookalike spawn, is counted in many many hours. And no such luck. The one time I've seen the two being spawned, was just as I arrived and he died before I could do more than quickly confirm that it was indeed my prey with a mouseover. Needless to say, I slaughtered the Hordie anyway in my Righteous Wrath. Not the horde's fault, but someone had to pay for this.

I want Humar's twin damnit!

ROTFLMAO

this barking even got my dogs attention. normally sounds on my computer or tv don't phase him. But she was tilting her head at this barking.

I'm getting this dog. I'll have to go to theramore with my warrior to find where it is first.

I have no intention of using it as my hunter is 70, I just want to bring it in ogrimar and click it so other people can hear it barking. at least I hope they can hear it.

I had the smoking Windserpent for a while. Sometimes I would also appear in a puff of smoke if I logged in with the pet out next to me. I just didn't really like the skin or Windserpents in general so I got rid of it.

Barking Wolf sounds pretty cool though. Just not quite cool enough to justify levelling one up 35-70.

As for other "unique" pets. There's the Ghostsaber with it's transparency and the colour changing Rip Blade Ravager.

@North: Ever tried getting in touch with Horde on your server? Perhaps they're less approachable on PvP servers, but I'd have no problem popping Sian Rotam for an ally. And it does work both ways, we can't tame the Den Mother as she's friendly.

okay I tamed him. if you are low level you will end up aggroing the guards. helps to have a high level with you to fight them off.

Even at 70 I managed to aggro one guard. most guards are around 57.

you can approach the island by water from the east or west. and climb up on the rocks.you then squeeze on in between some walls and can approach spot from behind. this is when a guard came running towards me. perhaps he was on the other side of the wall real close. forgot to train growl on my throw away pet, but no biggee, meleed the guard down.

tried it out in undercity. i used the emote /bark then clicked on the dog. lol. i got one person to use the emote, but of course it won't work for them. ;). been a while since I had this much fun with a pet. I'll get bored of it soon enough. and i'm not enough of a ********* to level it 35 levels. though sometimes I think it would be nice to have a more tank like pet. my ravager takes a ton of damage. he's tough to keep alive fighting elites. But then it will do less damage so I'll pull aggro easier. guess I could fd I suppose.

I completly understand you NorthAI! Most of the best-lookings pets are horde only.
This was even worse for Alliance before the pet attack speed nerf, since alot of the best attack speed pets were only available to horde. Enrage Stanley was a fast attacking Wolf that I wanted to get in my 20s, but of course... horde quest spawned.

Here is a list of horde pets:

Spot [Unique [barking] - Alliance can't tame them]
Arikara [Unique [smoke summon] - horde spawned]
Echeyakee [Unique [since the other model is horde spawned too] - spawned]
Sian-Rotam [Unique [since the other model is horde spawned too] - spawned]
Shy-Rotam [Pretty Unique [the other model of her is rare] - spawned]
Silithid Protector [Once was Unique [had a special emote when it was summoned - spawned]
Enraged Stanley - [Once had a good attack speed, but now it is normal - Spawned]

That won't work. Only the person who clicks it can hear it. Of course, if the others click it, they will hear it.
I can only imagine a mages reaction if they try to sheep your pet in PvP...

Everyone knows about the ghost saber... but the colour changing Ravager? Never heard of it, sound very interesting!

To do that you'd have to know someone with a character on the horde side in real life. Since of course, none of your Alliance guildies/friends can have horde characters. And you can't just make one to ask horde in general chat [PvP server... duh!].

Of course, you can try to find someone on a furoms, such as this one. But the likelyhood of finding someone on a furom willing to help you on the same server as you, well, it's very low. So it's near-impossible for an Alliance on a PvP server to get a horde pet. Your best chance is just to wait and hope somebody spawns them! Then kill him!

Yeah I meant on forums rather than in game or real life. I've seen similar requests around, so it does happen.

Just thought of another one. The Rak'Shiri/Shy Rotam skinned cat has an audible yawn animation. None of the other cats do (As far as I'm aware)

Rasen, you notice so many things! It's amazing!

I think I might just submitt this information to Mania, and take all the credit myself. Muwhahahahah!

Ok, I guess I'll give you some credit... ok, I'll give you all the credit...
You make a persuasive arguement Rasen.

Btw, mind explain the color-changing Ravagers to me? That seems extremely interesting, and I've never heard of it before.

Rip-Blade ravager
Will look like either his normal skin or Purple or orange when you summon him.
Pretty fun =P

You could create a trial account just to talk to a horde and get your pet. That would work on a pvp server.

North, just how badly do you want that white kitty cat? Badly enough to level it up from level 16?

I would be willing to make a horde character on your server and level him up high enough to get that quest. That’s only about level 15. It’s not a big deal. But I’m not willing to level one to 60. Sorry. *smiles*

Arthas! You are evil! Evil I tell you!!!

Because of your post I took a trip to Theramore Isle with one of my alliance characters. I played with Spot for a while and then took a look around. The pup and his doggie house are located next to the training area for all the guards. However, there is a long area right behind Spot, between the outer wall and one of the buildings, where nothing spawns or paths. Once a horde characters gets there, either by slipping past the guards or simply doing a death run, he/she should be able to pull the dog there with a ranged shot and tame it without getting attacked by NPCs. Its even out of the line of site so it’s a handy spot for PvP servers.

The reason I rightfully call you evil is because I find myself wanting to tame this pup. And my horde hunter is level SIXTY FOUR! I’ll have to level him up 29 levels. And I swore I’d never do that again. *heavy theatrical sigh*

On the plus side, I really like the wolf model. I had a black wolf for a time, but I don’t have a wolf on any of my characters at the moment. I prefer black, but Spot’s color is my second favorite. Vanyal’s main pet, Sunspark, is a bright red cat from the blood elf starting area. I rather like the idea of his having both a cat and a dog.

I still say you are EVIL. *smiles*

Too bad druids can't "charm animal" like in other mmo's.

Then, possibly, alli hunters could tame - if a horde druid charmed....
