Important Macro+addon for mages (or any timed casting class)Follow

I think I read it here in one of the forums, I think it would be important enough to make a new post for it. It sounds very simple, but it can help your dps stay where it should be. If you have noticed you will sometimes start casting a fraction of a second later than when you click it, this addon (Quartz Can be found here) will bring up a casting bar telling you when you can stop casting to make up for the extra time lost.

The macro is very simple:

/stopcasting
/cast <insert spell here>

It can increase your dps (from where you are), by a decent amount, letting you get to the potential dps that you can/should have.

Is the link to the Oboards post

I know this may be old information for some of the veterans here, but I figure any help in increasing dps can help, right?!

Its also important to have a macro with only /stopcasting and you can hotkey it to one place.

This also can be replaced with moving and stuff. Using quartz gives u 2 benefits, if u decide that the spell you are currently casting should not be cast (ie sheep is still sheeped but another add has come in the picture). Using that macro can help.

I've been meaning to do the /stopcasting macro thing for a while, but hadn't gotten around to getting the mod to show me the bar. Rate up.

I heard they were going to 'fix' something in relation to this in the next patch?

I heard this in an interview/oboards post as well, we will have to see what this 'fix' entails.

I need some advice on this... Per the post here, I downloaded and installed Quartz with the macro. I set it up, it works fine. However... I find myself watching the cast bar rather then the action when using it. It makes it harder to catch runners heading toward the healer or sheep popping or whatever when I am so focused on the cast bar. And yes, I do look up and around between cast... but you get the picture. Can the cast bar be formatted to something more HUD oriented?

Also. I find that a fair amount of time, when I hit the button in the "lag" zone I kill the spell rather than utilize my latency time. Like maybe 5-8% of the time. Anyone else have this problem?

In theory I think this is great. In practice, it is proving a bit tricky for me.

i have had that issue as well hitting it in the 'lag zone' so I generally wait til about halfway into it to be ready. I know what you mean by watching the bar instead of the other stuff, if you are in a situation that recquires constantly watching for runners adn stuff, i recommend just letting the spellcast the recast instead of trying to time it up.
