This is my first attempt at a PvP video. Check it out and let me know what you think.

Nice cinematography. I like the transitions, they're really smooth (which is amazing since I'm watching it on youtube which is choppier than a jaccuzi after someone farts).

It's... not really your fault, but PvP videos featuring Hunters are just hopelessly boring to watch. It's not interesting at all unless the Hunters are being targetted or attacked, and since PvP videos always show their composers in a favorable light... Basically it was just ten minutes of watching you shoot things.

Honestly, in some of the clips you didn't even move.

Of course I didn't move in some clips, you maximize your dps if you can stand still.

Ahhhh the power of us SV hunters! Good job man, and nice toon. I think I saw a 4k+ crit in there too....nice! I'm still trying to get that sunfury bow of yours! As far as your vid of you playing you did a pretty good job...don't worry about the others! Only thing I saw you didn't do that maybe will help your dmg out better than what it is. When I wyvern sting someone, I always then hunters mark them, then pop trinket, aimed and pew pew. I'm sure you know this as in the heat of battle things get nuts, but I keep HM up on as much as I can since you obviously have some better gear it wouldn't effect you as much as me, but it would help a bit. Gotta love the crit of SV though!

I think you missed the point entirely...

No, I didn't. Your point was that I was standing still for many shots, meaning there was not as much action as there would be if I was running around doing some crazy shiat. However, many shots cannot be done while moving (autoshot, steady, aimed, multi). So as far as shot rotation goes, some times it is necessary to stand still to get the dmg done.

If you meant something entirely different by your vague remark, then perhaps it would be better to fully explicate your point, instead of wasting eachother's time with guessing games.

Maybe my next video will be of me running around non-stop, trying to melee everyone to death while utilizing explosive trap.

Wonderful video! I really enjoyed it.

I've been casually mulling over the idea of speccing survival for raids and PVP... and thinking it might be a good idea. I enjoy MM spec, but it doesn't seem like SV's play-style would be all that off, especially if I did a SV/MM build.

By the way, what program did you use to record the video? I've been wanting to do something similar. :)

Yes, you did.

My point, is that the title of your thread is "Survival Hunter PvP Video", but all you really did was sic your pet, stand still, and fire off a shot rotation completely untouched and unfocused on in group situations. That's great and all, I realize Hunters do that at times, but... it doesn't make for a good PvP video.

Why should we care? Like I said, it really wasn't entertaining. It was watching you stand still and shoot things for ten minutes.

Why does it matter that you're Survival? You started off a few fights with Wyvern sting, but other than that, a Hunter with 0 talent points spent could have done what you did. Why not showcase some chain-trapping, or close combat where you were forced to rely on Counter Attack, or anything at all that would actually take your talent spec into account?

You may have wasted my time--the time I spent watching this video--but I'm not trying to waste yours. I'm not attacking you. I'm offering criticism which I would hope would be used constructively should you happen to make another video. Given your overly-defensive response, though, I doubt that's likely to happen, so I'll be sure not to waste my time watching another of your videos should you happen to make one.

RE: Gaudion

Yes, its called "Survival Hunter PvP Video", for most of my talent points are in the survival tree (actually 2/3rds of them are). However, survival is not just chain trapping and CA. In fact, I only have entrapment and deterrence, not the other trapping talents nor CA. Most of the talents maintained by my hunter are ones that maximize ranged dps (hit rating, crit, agility, AP, etc...), and slightly allow for longer survival (HP boost, dmg reduction).

Why does it matter that I am survival? Because that is what could be considered my spec, even if it is not full survival. It matters because I have no points in Bm, and only 20 in MM. So if somebody were to ask, "What spec is that hunter?", I would have to reply "survival" even though I do not follow your "criteria" for what makes a hunter a "true" survival hunter. "How can you be survival if you do not chain trap and use counter attack?" "Well, look at my talents and see what they give me, survival has more to offer than just CC."

A 0 talent hunter would not have critted as often as I did, would have taken more dmg, and would not have been able to WS in almost every fight that was shown.

And there are a few close combat situations: 1 or 2 with a warior, and at least 1 with a rogue (albeit they did not last too long).

Anyway, I was not defensive in my previous posts, I was simply striving for clarification: I thought I knew your point, yet you said I did not, and you did not fully explicate your point, which I felt was necessary toward my full understanding of it. The internet removes the tone of the conversation transmitted through voice, and syntax can only do so much, so I can see why this mistake was made. However, this post now may have been somewhat defensive, but for clarification purposes only, that is all (I take no offense, and that being the case, no true defense can be made).

Perhaps I should have linked my armory page in the first place, so you could see why there was not chain trapping and Counter attack:

http://armory.worldofwarcraft.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Ysondre&n=Ficht

Perhaps sometime in the future you could do the same as I, and make a hunter pvp video, regardless of your spec. I would enjoy that.

RE: ZulFrieze

I used Song Vegas 7.0 to edit and Fraps to capture the game footage. It was my first experience using both, but they seem easy enough to use at first, however I am sure there is a lot more to be done using Vegas (it seems like a good program).

Personally i thought you pwned! The video was very clear and smooth ... what recording program did you use?
#12 Aug 11 2007 at 4:02 PM Rating: Decent
What you showed was not skilled pvp, it was ganking 0 resilience noobs from behind a tree or cliff with 3 other horde with you. Any idiot can stand there and press his trinkets, aimed shot and multi shot and quite frankly I thought this was just an epeen showcase of big crits on small gnomes with crap gear.

I dont think there was a single well geared opponent in the video - its difficult to get footage of good fights but honestly why did you make a video showcasing you killing people who, half the time, are mounted or standing there doing sweet f all. Any other spec could do this equally as well or better, and if you got into any real fights vs real geared opponents (eg 300 resi+) I fear you would get beaten to a pulp.

If you want to make a better video I would suggest:

a) get a real pvp spec
b) get geared up with some resilience and go fight some good opponents in 1v1 or 1v2 fights
c) dont include clips of a hunter farming midfield with his entire team, since most of us get to see that every day anyway and even if I chopped my hands off would probably be able to do it

On the plus side the quality was quite smooth and nice considering its on youtube.

Yeah, I was pretty modest and humble in my posting of the video (both in the credits and youtube notes), for I know it is not skilled and I know that ganking isn't really the PvP most expect and only counts in the most general usage of the term 'PvP', but I still find it funny nonetheless.

As for your suggestions:

a) Yeah, I am raid spec right now. I was basically testing out how to make a video with the programs I had.

b) Working on that resilience thing. Probably getting merc glad chest next tuesday. Not sure if I want to sacrifice agility for some of the epic honor gear.

c) Most of that farming was to show the crit frequency of a survival hunter in pvp, no it doesn't show skill, but instead potential dps output that can be achieved for anyone interested in something other than BM and MM. I usually get at least top 3 on dps in the end (maybe my battlegroup just has undergeard alliance). And I do get creamed by high resilience geared players: a MS warrior in my guild destroys me every time, but I did come close when I had readiness for double detterence.

This video is not ego stroking, it is just some visual information for hunters who are researching their class.

Anyway, thanks for the input. I find it funny, from all the feedback I have gotten, the number of people that feel the need to be jerks is greater than the number of people who actually nice and still gave negative criticism. I wonder why that is?
