I've been watching some mage pvp videos and i see people using poly rank 1 in arenas etc. Should i be using rank 1 also because i have been using the highest rank polymorph.
not sure of the answer, but how do you know that they are using rank 1 by watching the video?
ohoh, maybe they are using it because in PvP any of those poly/charm/fear spells only last 12 secs at most (not sure if that is the correct time or if it got reduced even more.....can't recall)

Damn fine question I have thought about this too as the fact that 8 seconds is all you get in arena's and the time poly'd seems to be the only differance between the ranks aside from mana cost. To add to your Q: ...does a rank 1 spell have a higher chance to be resisted by a 70 opponent?
If it is anything like frost nova, then no. I use rank 1 FN and it works just as good as the highest rank that I have right now, except i lose a little damage from it, but it isn't there for damage.
1. Resist chance does not include spell ranks.
2. With next patch out the PvP CC will be max 10 sec. So there is no need to waste mana. Rank1 = 60mana, rank4 = 150mana you save 90mana on each polymorph.
3. In PvE a high lvl polymorph is still good choice. (more time for whatever)
