Ok, I'm pretty sure that they are going to be giving Demonology a new pet. What do you think that pet might be/do?

Also, what do you think affliction/destruction are going to get?

Here's what I think would be cool.

Demonology: New Pet - Some kind of spell caster/healer?

Affliction: Some kind of new CC?

Destruction: Possibly a new kind of AoE?

I know, I know.. I just think it would be fun to hear what other people's thoughts were. So come on! Give me something.

its gonna be a few months or more for this expansion, demonology already has an extra pet and they really don't need anymore. if you really need the heals then i suggest rerolling. just wait i am sure they will tell us what we get when wotlk comes out

So nobody has any serious input on this subject? If you don't think Demonology is going to get another pet, what do you think it will get?
#8 Aug 08 2007 at 9:15 PM Rating: Decent
Its gonna be a lot more than "a few months" before the expansion comes out. My bet is a year. As for talents, no one can really say. I seriously doubt they'll have ANOTHER new demon. What's the point of getting the old one then? But one thing to think about is that the new talents would have to be at least as good as having 41/30 in some combination.

Exactly, we're going to be seeing some very cool new abilities. As for what the point of the Felguard would be, it would still serve as a more offensive tank-like pet. It's not like they would make the new one just a more powerful version of the Felguard. The new pet would have a different kind of role. Like the VW is to tank, the imp grants the party a buff, felhunter is an anti-caster pet, etc..

But if you don't think that Demonology is going to get a new pet, then what are your ideas on what else they might get?

I have been demo for ages and what I would like to add would be some new kind of spell/talent for burst damage.
Right now the only reliable one I have for fast killing is SB and I hate such long casting time.
Apart from that I could use some sort of snare too.

But if anything gets added to demo, PvPing 6 years olds would throw such fits that locks would get nerfed instantly...... so I say leave it as it is.

I am happy PvE demo and I dont need anything added to stay happy with my build (tho some 20 more talent points would be nice :p)

Affliction: WTB AoE Death Coil + Channeled Fear.

Destruction: WTB Imp. Incinerate.

Demonology: WTB Reason to go past Soul Link.

I think a possible new talent for affliction would be something that reduces the cast time of UA and maybe makes it instant.

Demonology would probably get some type of pet healing, whether its like a hunter's channel heal, or a shadow priests vampiric embrace.

Destruction might get a new AoE and a new type of shadowburn, maybe.

anyway, i just want instant UA.. /drool

That would be the most useless thing they could think of.
I can sic my felguard at anything but elites and let him kill it on his own with loosing maybe 10% of my hp on healing him.

Sometimes I get multiple adds and if I forget to dot every one of them it happens that I find mob I cant loot - killed by my pet.

If anything WTB loot rights on things my pet kills on his own :p

Wow, an AoE Deathcoil would be crazy. Definitely another good way to keep the Affliction warlock alive and deadly.

As for what Demonology could get, how crazy would it be to have a talent that allows you to have two pets out at once? In order to make it fair maybe they would be reduced to 50% effectiveness each? But that would be fun.

They may not even add any new talents, just the ability to boost your secondary tree is more than enough for me. UA/Ruin build anyone?

bah, link no workie right, I'll try again later.

Of course they're going to add more talents, but then again if they wouldn't be as good as just boosting your current mixed talents then that would still be awesome. By the way, a Demonology/Ruin spec would be much much more effective with the big boost in damage you get.

Demonology buffs + 100% more damage from Crits = Crits that rip holes in the fabric of the universe. You can do this now, but with the 10 more talent points you would also be able to have the Felguard, Improved Corruption, Demonic Resilience, and maybe 1 to pyroclasm or something. (If you just add the 10 to this build)

This plus 5/5 Devastation, 2/2 Intensity, 2/2 Destructive reach, 1 Ruin - my personal dream build. And some 6 pts more in affliction to make it perfect.

One new talent i'd like to see deep in the affliction tree would be the ability to life tap to other people. Put it on a large cool-down, after it's used it nerfs your life tap and heals for a while.
Something like "Drains all available mana and 90% of your total health. All the mana drained goes to a targeted group member. For 1 min after use all healing and mana restoration effects reduced by 75%"

Not a talent for soloing or stuff, but there would be plenty of times during long raid fights it could come in handy. Sacrifice your self to get the healer back in the game.

As for demonology why not make it where you can infuse yourself with a demon for 5 min. Not sure what it would give you but seeing how you are a master of demons why not become one. Kinda like a semi-controlled possession. Gives you special abilities and a cool look for 5 min but you can't have another demon summoned. Plus the demon possessing you is trying to gain control so it would add a little variety. Maybe it would cast a random spell every once in a while on your target or on someone in your group, or even on you. So your doing all this extra damage, kicking ***, and then the demon possessing you decides to death-coil you.

Just some ideas I think might be cool.

Don't need new talents, imo. UA/Ruin would already be ftw. What do I do with the other 9 talents? Probably 5/5 Fel Stam, 1/2 Imp. HS, and 3/3 Imp. Imp, but that's because I'm too lazy to be creative and I LIKE being imp bish in raids.

Seems like an ok idea, but theres one major setback. Warlocks would just be used for that spell and that spell only.

Here's my 3 ideas for the last 3 spells in the 3 talent trees.

Affliction:

Light Imp: Summons a Light Imp under the command of the Warlock.

The spells it can use would be:
Intensify: Increases the spell damage, healing and attack power of the Warlock's group by X. Also increases the efect of the group's Damage over time spells by 10%. Instant cast. (this lasts forever, like Blood Pact)
Demonic Heal: Heals the targeted friendly player by X. 3 second cooldown. 1.5 second cast.
Phase Shift: (samething as phase shift now)
Demon Speed: Increases the Warlock's group spell and Melee haste rating by 20% for 1 minute. 3 minute cooldown.

Demonology:

Demonic Form: Transforms the Warlock into that of a Demon.

You may not have a demon out while in this form. All damage is increased by 50%. Health is increased by 10%. Mana is increased by 10%. All physical damage taken is reduced by 20%. Walk speed increased by 3%. All resistances are added by half of your level.

Destruction:
(There are 2 effects for this spell, just like Mana Tap and Arcane Torrent)

Punish: Deals X damage to the enemy target. Target's health must be 50% or lower. Grants the Warlock 1 Relinquish charge. This effect stacks up to 3 times.Instant cast. 10 second cooldown.

Relinquish: Deals X damage to all enemies in a 20 yard radius per charge. Also increases all enemies that have taken damage by relinquish to have their time between attacks increased by 10%% and their casting time increased by 10% per charge. This effect does not stack with other slow effects(such as Slow, CoTongues, etc.) 1 second cast. Can be improved to be Instant cast.

Well those are my 3 ideas. The Demonic Form might be a little high, but remember, its a subsitute for your demon. This means no Felguard, Imp, Succubus, etc. can be summoned.

This also means that Soul Link, Master Demonologist, or Demonic Knowledge can be used while you are in this form.

They all seem pretty equal in terms of PvP. Raiding, it depends on how much mana Punish and Relinquish Cost. But in terms of support, Affliction is definately the better tree.

Welcome to the first of [a great] many speculation threads on the next x-pack. I'm positive that there will be many overpowered suggestions that should make a warlock so powerful that no other class will be able to stand before it. Personally, I feel that threads like this are stupid beyond belief, although I know that others have fun in trying to figure out how overpowered they can make the class. Me? I refuse to speculate, because I can wait for the game itself.

I think its pretty clear Blizzard said we will get new level caps and talents that would match that. So 10 new levels = 10 talents plus.

I am not speculating about whatever new over that might come, I find it worthless too, but discussing about what kind of new builds we may get with 10 talents more doesnt seem like speculating to me.
I am refering to those talents we already have of course, not about inventing new ones.

As far as I am concerned they can wait with that new expansion for few more years. Lost Eden destroyed AO for me completely, I could stomach Shadowlands but next one ruined everything I used to love about the game. Not to mention endless and very annoying bugs that came with it.
I just hope it will not happen with WoW too, I am in serious consideration of looking for new game anyway.

Here are just a couple ideas to fix existing talents

Cataclysm

Your destruction spells give you the cataclysm effect decreasing the mana costs of subsequent destruction spells by 1% per rank. Stacks up to 5 times. Lasts for 15 seconds or until a non-destruction spell is cast.

This is a mechanic that I believe would be very interesting. It's great for encouraging spamming and furthers searing pain's usefulness in both pvp and raids. It's mana reduction is spectacular yet it comes at a good price. One can't fear, dot, or even life tap without losing the mana reduction builtup over spamming

Aftermath

You destruction spell criticals inflict the target with daze for 2 seconds per rank

A much more reliable, and alot more potent, version of the original talent. You can pretty much guarantee that after a spamming for a few seconds your target will be dazed for a good amount of time giving you the chance to run away and get that ranged benefit again. Though potent it's not overpowered. Every class has a way of overcoming snares but regardless it's still very nice
