Bad mage or really good me?Follow

#1 Aug 08 2007 at 10:06 AM Rating: Decent
I am pretty new to melee in WoW I have my 70 hunter and 60 Priest, so I am still trying to get the whole melee thing down.

Being a 24 UD Warr going against a 26 BE Frost Mage I thought he was going to eat me alive like nothing else.... The opposite happened as I was in battle stance for the first 2 duels she tried kiting me but with hamstring nothing she did helped her. Blink, pfft, I run in other direction, "Leaving Combat", when she came back charge reapply hamstring and beat down... On the 3rd duel I decided to ***** around and went Defensive stance and got owned, my 1H Sword was a low lvl green same as shield so I got no major stats added.

Main reason for this is I told my buddy about it and he said that mage really had to suck in order not to beat me. I know frost mages have survivability and should be able to kite kill me as this one did who couldn't get me down.

Did I really do that good of a job or was that mage bad?

EDIT: Arms spec BTW

the mage wass pathetic, normally wars dont even get close

at lvl 26 he should have CoC (cone of cold), Fnova, and ... which should be able to slow u so bad that u cant even touch him/her

with some instant cast... that mage should be able to kill u without taking any dmg.

he was just newb or watching **** or drunk or asleep

Now, the frost tree has alot of great survivability talents. Thing is, there's so many of them you can't pick them all without delaying your progress further into the tree. However, frost mages really shine post-40 (and post-30). Before that your struggle is just to choose which awesome abilities not to pick.

With arms warriors, on the other hand, you really don't shine untill level 40 (and, again, 30. To a lesser extent). Mages beat warriors overall.

I can't really say. If you say you're new to the class it's a big possibility that the mage didn't know what he was doing. However, you're not new to the game. And that's enough for me to think that you might have actually showed real skills in that duel. Just the fact that you didn't try to run retardedly after the mage as he blinked, but get out of his range and waited him out, makes a strong point to you being skilled in combination with the mage being unskilled (rather than both being unskilled, just the mage more so).

stormofnova: The mage having 2 abilities, one being a snare and the other a root, does not make his win certain. Infact, if you get the charge in as a warrior (and thereby the hamstring) you'll find that mages can have a really hard time trying to beat you. Simply going "oh **** the mage can prevent me from hitting him..." is leaving me with the distinct impression that you are in fact the nub watching **** while sleeping off the booze.

Well my smarts in the use of mages is low, I know what they can do but I've never lvl'd one past 20. I, of course, have seen what they can do and how impossible they can be to beat sometimes.

This girl was dueling others and eating them up, I guess I was more wondering at our lvls how a warr could beat a frost mage so easily, yet she dueled a 29 rogue and whooped him, a 26 hunter she ate up pretty easily too but a 24 warr was tough.

One thing I should of done was check his gear, even though our lvl the gear isn't the greatest, still makes a difference.
