Sorry if this question was already answered in forum. I am a level 8 night elf hunter. I had 218 arrows in my quiver bag, when I left the game. When I went on again I only had 18 arrows.
Is this a glitch in the game? Should I keep arrows in backpack instead?

You're probably a victim of the arrow gremlin. You see, there are wars going on in the Gremlin realm of Grendom. They run short of things like arrows, bandages, and other things. They send out scouts to pilfer those things from players. Sounds like you've been pilfered... ^_^
All kidding aside, you probably need to check to see if you accidentally dragged the arrows out of your quiver, but more likely you accidentally sold them back to a vendor when you were trying to buy more. If you right click on existing ammo in a quiver/pouch while the vendor is selling you more, they will happily buy back your ammo at a fraction of what they just sold it to you for. It's a great profit scheme and you need to be careful not to fall victim to it.
Just watch what you are clicking on when ammo-ing up. You'll probably never lose another stack. Don't work with ammo out of any kind of storage sack unless it's ammo meant for a particular target type. That will make sure it's not used in vain.

Another possibility is that your server crashed and was rolled back to a restore point at which you had only the 18 arrows. It's rare, but it does happen on occasion.
200 is exactly one stack. are you sure you didn't just overlook it? i know that at lvl 8 there's not much you have but it's possible.
but if you were in the same spot you logged out in, i guess it's just a glitch that is not common.
you should feel free to use quivers and ammo bags since they will increase your shooting speed.
I think it's a glitch. If I remember correctly, vendors don't buy the lowest level arrows. The roll-back sounds like the most probable explanation. If you continue to have missing arrow problems, ticket a GM by clicking on the little red exclamation point at the bottom of the screen next to your bags.
