My question is simple I think! how can I increase my aggro? more armor, defense rating, block rating and those tank status increse my threat? Or the only thing I can do to increase my aggro is get a better weap and more str to increase dmg?

Skills are used to create threat and keep aggro on mobs. Doing damage is a big part of threat generation but skills like taunt, sunder, shield block, etc... create a lot more threat in relation to the damage they deal.

Armor, block rating, defence rating, stronger weapons, etc... are all important things but it really comes down to how you use the skills you have. You can have a great block rating but if you never use the skills that turn blocks into damage or aggro then all it does is increase your survivability.

Warriors don't run around with some sort of 'aggro bubble' that will automatically draw mobs to him and keep them there. Warriors have to work to hold onto mobs that are getting threat from insane DPS and heals. A Warrior has to build some threat on every mob so that the first heal doesn't result in all the mobs but the one the Warrior is targeted on running off to hit on the Healer.

Tanking isn't easy and it's not simply an optimization of stats but it can be fun.

No, those stats decrease the damage you take.

Yes. New weapons, +str, +agi, +crit and +block value (if you're prot specced) all increase your threat. Now, +agi is fauvorable since it gives both +cirt, +armour and +dodge. Block value is fauvorable over +str, since it takes ~22 str to get 1 block value. If you're not protection, however, +str is better than +block value.

Also, +hit really increases your threat (more so than +crit really). It's often overlooked though. It's ideal to have +136 hit rating (+8.6% hit) but if you have to sacrifice alot of stats to get there it's advisable to make it a lower priority.

dont mean to jump in here realy but speaking of block does the spikes BS's can attach to shield count as a hit when blocked and grant more threat than a normal block or are you better off getting the +block rateing enchant?

As a tank I ditched my spike in favor of an STA enchant. At endgame levels the spike is not worth the bennifit of a good STA buff

I agree, when you are are endgame tank and thus fuly prot you'll have many abilities for threat generation. Sta, def and such will benefit you damage mitation which in turn will make the healers job easier.

Yes, the spike is mainly for Multiple mob tanking. Skeletons in SL come to mind. All in all, if you're tanking several elite mobs in a raid: you're dead. Non elites are fine, but the inability to hold aggro on those negate the usefulness of a Shield Spike.

Basicly: +Block Rating < Shield Spike < +Stamina.
