60 to 70 and talent buildFollow

Hi Mages,
I am going to need your help, I have been away a little over 2 years and just made my return. I am a level 60 Gnome mage, to be honest I don't remember everything and my guild is just toally gone and I have no friends left on my friend list. Even my talent tree has been erased and now I got to rebuild my talent tree, I was build as a frost mage 2 years ago, however after reading the forum, I don't see many discussion regarding frost mage build. Most of my gears are somewhat related to my frost mage build, However I am sure I can get new gears if needed to. The help I need is trying to catch up two years of lost knowledge and I don't expect anyone here can bring me up to date in an instant. If someone can give some helpful highlights and any major changes I need to watch out for and a suggestion for a decent build. I would still like to stay as frost mage but if frost is no longer useful in group, I am more than willing to go with other builds. I usually just PVE and Raids, not big on pvp

Thank you

So would a frost mage currently be consider for crowd control in PVE? or just simply a squishy that does less dmg?

I believe that it totally depends on your playstyle. I recommend that you level with whatever spec you want. You have enough points now that you can try both fire and frost spec and see which one you like more.

I am a 40/0/21 arcane/frost spec and love it. I put out good dps with my gear (although it would be better if I had a full-frost mage stacking winter's chill on the boss/mob), but I do about 450-500dps in current raids (main gruul's and void reaver, as they are mainly dps fests).

I do plan on saving up enough mats to make my spellfire set so that I can switch to fire and see how it feels, but I will most likely stay with frost until I absolutely have to switch to fire.

There haven't been many updates, although you say you have been gone for two years? If you check out the talent trees there will be several talents that you haven't seen before (speaking from frost: frozen core [not very helpful], arctic winds [recently buffed to add dmg], water elemental [excellent reason to go full frost], ice floes [decreases cooldowns], and empowered frostbolt [a good dmg booster]).

Let me know if you have any questions.
