Its true that a pallie and a shaman can benefit alot from each others totems/blessinngs, but so can all other classes, depending on your spec ofc.
So just play what you feel like, it will be better for you in the long run anyways :)

L2English. When your post is five lines long and only one sentence, something is severely wrong with your communication skills. I outright refuse to even try to understand that post.

While the L33T speak detracts from the OP's 'point' I believe it was a question of whether or not a Hunter would benefit similarly from teaming up with a Paladin as a Shaman would.

It's an interesting question, but any Hunter teamed up with a melee combatant is a good combination. The pet serves as off tank and thus there is little in normal adventuring that such a combo can't do easily and the Hunter is rarely engaged/damaged.

The Shaman combination makes for two healers, two melee types and concentrated power, however, a team of Paladin/Hunter could take them down because the addition of the ranged expert makes it hard to have them stay together to get that combination benefit and it's hard to stay healing ahead of hunter damage as both Paladin's and Shaman heals are slower than Priest heals. This is PvP though, in PvE either combo is excellent IMHO.

Tell your friend he´s a dork, and tell him to roll a shadow-priest/afflic-lock.
Now those two are a living nightmare... in both PvP AND PvE. Both cast DoT´s on a mob, then the next one... and the next one... and the next one... etc etc etc. And say hello to 300% leveling speed. Health regain, mana regain, extra %shadow damage (both trough priest shadow/talents) and a mad damage dealer that hardly ever runs out of mana (long live imp. LT). As for PvP: start DoT´s, fear, run the other way, and laugh your *** of as that hunter desperatly tries to catch you.

Neither a shaman nor a Paladin are considered "DPS" classes. In fact Pals are very low dps dealers, for the most part, and shamans are at best middling.

I would think such a combo would be VERY slow at leveling.

The shadow priest / aff lock combo mentioned above is wicked.

Okay, I'll agree that an Spriest/lock combo is good... but don't act like it's the end-all be-all.

We have a number of tools to combat anything a spriest or lock can throw at us. In fact, while locks are a tough fight I've never had a problem with an equal-level shadow priest. Fear? Oh, silencing shot. Or, if you're BM, Bestial Wrath/tBW. If the pet doesn't kill you, the hunter certainly will.

As for locks, they are more difficult for me as a MM, but again... use silence, wail away... kite at range (to stay out of DC radius) with conc shot and wear them down. You've got FD to get the pet off of you, and an array of almost instantaneous shots that will bring pain to that 10k HP. We've got longer range, and as long as we can stay there... it becomes easier to wear them down. Or break fear/DC with trinket, scatter shot, snake-trap (or freezing trap, aimed multi arcane). Yes, they're a difficult fight, but it can be done.

To the OP, roll what you think you'll like the most. Shammies are a ton of fun and very powerful, but it also depends on your spec. EX: I take enhancement shammies easily. Elementals are a bit more difficult. :)

Just my opinion here, but a mage/lock combo would be not so good until they hit at least lvl 10, and then they'd only shine birghtly at 20+. With little to no healing, light on the tank (voidwalker is it), adds will chew that duo without proper CC available at the 10+ levels. All dps is not always good.

I'd like to bring everyone back to the OP's point, his buddy has a Paladin, so you can't do a mage/lock combo unless his buddy decides to ditch the Paladin.

There are a couple other threads on this forum for 'best team' with a Hunter, but it seems like the OP needs a thread of 'best team' with a Paladin. So, perhaps this question is better asked over in the Paladin forum...

I agree that Paladin/Shaman wouldn't be hyper fast leveling, however, it would be pretty bulletproof leveling. I doubt that pair would hardly ever die on a PvE server. PvP, they'd be less effective against other pairings.
