T4 Helm: Socket Question...Follow

When I was elemental, Mystical Skyfire Diamond was amazing and proc'd quite a bit--even from totems, elemental shields, and crafting. The effect will work on your rez too, if you can get out of combat quick enough. The buff doesn't last very long, but it's perfect for LB spam. You might have to mess around with other socket colors to meet the requirements though.

If you're having mana problems, Insightful Earthstorm Diamond will help a lot. It's not as noticably spectacular as the Mystical Skyfire, but may be more practical considering how long some boss fights are. It restores 300 mana on about 2% of casts, and will proc off any cast. It's my resto gem of choice.

The other metas--like stun resist and spell reflect--are more PvP oriented; I'd stick with the above two options for raiding. As for price, it'll vary widely by server. Almost all meta gems go for 100-120 gold on mine, but they're worth every copper.

getting a half-cast time lightning bolt would be overkill.

that would make the cast time less than the global cooldown.

There's an interesting meta-gem with 12 agi and 3% to critical strike damage that apparently applies to spell damage as well. just recently talked to someone on the shaman forums that said it was a significant dps boost, but that you'd need 850 spell damage before it would really be practical.
