In WoTLK new talents are bound to come up. What kind of stuff are you hoping for?
#2 Aug 06 2007 at 4:03 AM Rating: Decent
i can kill 20 orcs in 5 seconds flat
i can a conjure a water elemental out of nothing
i can shield myself with ice to absorb damage
i can turn enemies into sheep

i will be happy with a talent that can allow me to blink up a ramp!!!

From what I understand there will be a 'water fountain/muffin bin' skill that could provide to be very helpful in raids.

Maybe there will be a fire elemental (Although Shaman already have them...)

Arcane Power... 2?!

Water fountain/bakery rack ftw! At the beginning of raid, I spend the first 10 minutes drinking & conjuring water... like 30 stacks of water... :-( It's depressing.

The new talents need to be really good, as we'll have people able to do things like 40/31/0 and such... can you imagine the raw damage? *ZOMG* a combusted POM AP Pyroblast with firepower, etc, + AP blastwave ... or the PvP builds like 0/30/41...
it's gonna get craaaaaazzzzyyyy. ;-)

I guess there are benefits to running in a raid with a bunch of other mages and being a raid leader. The others usually took care of the water summoning for me so I could work on invites and organizing the groups.

I hope they change the visual effect of firestrike... just seems so darn lame. Fix the problem with blink on ramps/drops you can actually walk on, maybe blink in mid air.

I like the splitting fireball idea and the food/drink stall, or maybe some mana stones like the warlock healthstones.

Yeah but kinda like the healtstone fountain Warlocks can conjure. Along the lines of water/food dispensers.

Our conjured gems should also crit like locks healthstones...

But I hope we'll get new spells like meteor (some AoE we don't really to be close to cast) and of course Brilliance Aura, which should've been implemented ages ago.

Also a Summon Phoenix for fire mages wouldn't hurt. :P

Hmm 10 points to play with and new skills?! Got a few ideas myself:

Fire Tap (new fire skill/talent): Instantly deals all remaining damage to be done from all ignites on a target, lasts 10 secs - 3 min cooldown - 16yd range (sort of an onboard trinket - pop this aswell just before the pom/arc pyro)

Confusion (skill at 76 maybe): Confuses target, increasing casting time by 70%, lasts 6 seconds - 1 min cooldown - 36yd range (good for annoying caster trash and interesting in pvp)

Flicker (at 78): Instantly portals you to targets location and it to yours - 5 min cooldown - 36 yd range (hard to implement but a great way to save healers in instances, would be cool if you swapped out aggro with the target too)

Foresight (at 72): 50% of the next harmful effect cast on the target is reflected back at the attacker - lasts 20secs - 2 min cooldown

Id like to think of a nice frosty aimed spell but I havn't played frost for so long I wont even try. As for the rest, I like the idea of being given some CC vs casters (sheep/FN already great for melee).

oh and separate gripe, the uber omgwtf!!!11one!One!!! end game spell:

Burn the bastards (at 80): sends prewritten email to blizzard artists to redesign mage t6 gear and quit playing halo - instant cast - stacks up to 5 times - mana cost reduces per application

Oh ok one more, end of fire talent if they extend them

Dragon Spirit (8o): Summons a dragon to aid you for 20 secs. All fire dmg spells you cast add up to same damage, but are divided by you and your dragon.

In other words your fireballs will now hit for say 1500 not 3k, but his will hit the other 1500, in other words your threat/second from fire spells is halved for 20secs.

Must stop thinking up cool spells :s

information out on the live blog states that they are looking into mage dps issues that is related to the dmg tax (10% reduction on imp.fireball/imp.frostbolt). Dev specifically stated that mages should do the same dps as rogues, spriests, warlocks. Hunters are getting OOM to much, issue logged.

Cool new toys aside, I just want evo to scale better, spirit to do more for mages, mana gems to scale and a better way of reigning in our dmg in pvp rather than the way it is being done now.

We need a spell that comes from under the target =) that would be cool i think.

Like Ice Spike - Impales the target causing x damage over y seconds and immobilising it for y seconds.

I would gladly give up any new talents if I could just have a good , unbugged Mana Shield that works as intended. Smiley: bah

I vaguely remember reading recently that devs are looking into doing something or other with spirit. Not sure what, exactly, but something to make it better.

just a quick question. Why don't you just sign up for a skirmish arena match before you go raiding? You got 1 min to conjure all the stuff you want without spending a single MP. I would prefer another spell/talent that a muffin/water factory when the conjuring can be done by simply 1 mins conjuring.

I did see that from the liveblog. Its more or less directed at priests then casters (clothie variety) as a whole. As it is spi is a simple waste of item budget for the meager mana regen it offers unless your are priest with spirit tap. I see a few scenarios.

Spirit gets its item budget halved, this change will have little impact on PvP since regen is a very small aspect of this area of gameplay. To reduce its effect on health regen just change its regen rate per spi. With this you will not see melee stack spirit to get more health regen. People were getting instagibbed left right and center at half of the spell power that is possible now, stamina is however at a all time high and resilience combats the one-shot kill problem.

Spirit's item budget use remains the same but its benefits are improved upon. This could literally mean mechanic face lift. One way this can happen is to let a percentage of it account into spelldamage (there was talk of free spelldamage for healers/holy specced priest), I could see this happening since there is the free dmg talk for priest. If that was to happen mages would see a reason to stack some spi (given that if the mechanic applies to all caster classes). If the 5 second mechanic was updated a bit to say you would get 50% mana regen while under combat but not casting instead, spi would also become better.

In other news, AP for Enhance shamans might become part of their spelldmg. This could carry over to Retadins. Already mages got talents to convert their int into spelldmg. No reason why fanatic zeal cannot change str into spelldmg. The official statement was that retadin reliance on spelldmg is being looked at. I am all for talent changes for making them more dps worthy without making them overly powerful while healing themselves as a ret spec.

Smiley: jawdrop

That's freaking brilliant. Well, if you do it in time for the flag to wear off or are on a PvP server.

I don't think that would work... at least, all the Healthstones I conjure while inside disappear on exit, can't see why conjured food would be any different.

The water I conjure is always there when I leave, but it disappears when I enter a new one.

As long as you don't sign up for a new one you won't loose what you've conjured. And as you might've guessed I'm on a PvP-server so it doesn't really matter with the flag thing (besides, it's only 5 minuts I think - one won't be flagged when arriving at the instance)

Just a couple of Talent Ideas:
Arcane: Arcane Bombs: Creates 3 balls of arcane energy that float around the caster until an enemy comes within 15 yards. Then the balls seperate and chase the target until they catch it and explode on impact, dealing 'a fair amount of damage for what the damage levels will rise to in the expansion'.
Arcane Suicide: You blow yourself up, dealing damage between 1 to your total mana to everyone within 10 yards.
Teleport Foe: You can portal your teammates, you can teleport yourself... now you can teleport your enemy. Click the power and then click on the ground where you want them to land. It'd have to have a short range or catching the FC in WSG would be overpoweredly easy.

Fire: Firewall: Creates a wall of fire that lasts 1 minute, and deals damage equal to about 2/3 of the damage from the highest rank of Blastwave in the expansion to any enemy that walks through it. If an enemy stands in it, then they will take that amount of damage every 3 seconds.
Meteor: Call down a giant meteor to land on the targeted area, dealing damage equal to double the damage of the highest rank of Pyroblast in the expansion to all enemies within a 10 yard radius of it. In all fairness, it would have to have a long cast time and only be usable outside.
Ring of Fire: A medium ranged fire DoT that immobolizes the target.

Frost: Icy Determination: Passive; increases your chance to resist fear effects by 35%
Icicle: Drops a gigantic icicle on the enemy, dealing a bit more damage than the highest rank of Frostbolt in the expansion and stunning them for 5 seconds.
Double Elemental: Something that lets us summon a second elemental without the first disappearing.

I'm not saying we get ALL of these, just maybe 1 from each of the specs. They're probably a bit overpowered but I'm somewhat biased when it comes to mages.

the one I like the most from your post is the arcane suicide. I think it would be pretty cool for PvP or that last second when you are stuck with a ton of trash and it is about to wipe the raid. Blow up and deal 10k (or however much mana you have left).
