seems to me like it will be a warrior/warlock combo, much like warrior/priest combo of the paladin, though I feel it will not be so much of a tanking class.

Death Knight FTW! Finally, it seems like we have an alternative when it comes to being damage dealers. Don't get me wrong, I was Ret from 1-70 but you have to work your *** off with that spec to get any moderate dmg out of it. Hopefully this new "Hero" class spec for pallies can turn the tides. Only thing I'm wondering now is if our version of Hero will be overpowered by other classes Hero's, therefore putting us back in the same place we're at now?? Either way, I'm excited! /cheer

Yea but Im an Alliance Paladin ya know the real deal, I don't have to lock a naaru in my basement to get its powers, other than that it was a Lorelol when blizz introduced the Space shamans and the Evil paladins, lets hope Death knights don't turn out like that

Why is this on the Paladin forums?
#10 Aug 04 2007 at 6:43 AM Rating: Decent
Ive got a couple of lvl 40 characters but ive kind of ground to a halt with them or playing WoW at all. After hearing about this thou, i really want to get up to 70 so i can get to play a death knight. I always loved that aspect of EQ when i played it and in fact when i played D&D when i was younger we made a death knight class. Sounds like it should be fun.

Skill>Racials

even though hard core paladin pvpers reroll a blood elf for the mana tap/silence racials. Oh well, alliance pallys still look cooler IMO

And for what it's worth, it seems that anyone can become a Deathknight...not just Pally's.

Looks like I might have a change of heart in store for my Warrior.

Is there any direct quote that the Death Knight will be for paladin only?

Does anyone else think that this is all total crap and a complete marketing ploy by Bliz?

Sorry to spoil things for you guys, but the Death Knight is not a real "Hero Class" in the way you are interpreting it. Your Pally will not "become" a death kinght. You will do the epic questline to unlock the Death Knight, and then you get a BRAND NEW CHARACTER who starts at around level 50. So your Pally will still be sitting at 80 as a "good guy," not switching into a fallen, Arthas-style character. I wish they would have made this a Pally-only class in the way most people thought a "Hero class" was going to be, and that all other classes would get a special hero class as well (Shaman=Far Seer, Warlock=Necromancer, etc.) but that doesn't seem to be the case.

Here's a question - what happens if I'm already maxed out with my 10 characters for the server?

I would assume the end results of the quest will be the ability to create a Death Knight from your character creation screen, not an immediate creation of the character. And following that train of thought, I would assume you either delete a character and create one or... you don't.

Here's a guess, Blizzard themselves haven't decided upon the mechanisms of "unlock a DK" in terms of character creation yet, so let's wait for the beta to find out.

Alternatively, nothing stops you to PCT some of your chars out to a different server.

I'm probably one of the least enthusiast about that expansion, seeing as I'll probably change game before it even comes out.

However, here are my words:

The Death Knights shall be the new Night Elf Huntards.

If you want to be unoriginal, this is the class for you.

Oh, and make sure to include words like "death", "dark" and "evil" in his name.

I'm really not all that charged about it either. Will I create a Death Knight? Sure. Is it going to replace my main? Probably not.

In fact, this expansion worries me more than anything. Why? New skin tones, new hairstyles, and possibly more character customization features. A new class like a Death Knight wouldn't cause me to re-roll, but things like that would. I am downright **** about the appearance and names of all my characters. If I like one of the new hairstyles and/or skintones and/or whatever else they may add better than what one of my characters already has... I would re-roll a level 70 class with full epics in a heartbeat.

The level cap raise worries me more than anything. If the same thing happens that did with BC, all of us at 70 might as well just sit around and twiddle our thumbs until the expansion comes out, since all the effort we spend tweaking and gearing up our toons with current gear will be a waste of time anyways.

I know what you mean Gaudion, I've often rerolled characters around 30 because I got tired of some traits or color or whatever. And in many games like Morrowind/Oblivion I was always toying with the appearance of my characters. (Even if I played in first person most of the time >_>)

But from what I gathered, there would be options for existing characters to modify their appearance, so it would be fair for everyone. Don't quote me on this, but it's what I heard.
