FERAL druids help please!Follow

#1 Aug 01 2007 at 10:10 PM Rating: Default

I have been hearing in /2 chat in the game a lot that druids ( feral ) can be very good in pvp. I hear from a lotta ppl that they are better than most classes. Being all happy and all, thinking ima make a druid now since i wanna start a new char, i come to the forums and hear how bliz employee or developer never plays them, probly cause they suck im guessing, how they arent on the blizcon icon even tho every other class is, and a lot of little things like these. Whats with this? Is it still worth it or is bliz trying to prove a point? I just wanna figure out if my choice of a feral druid is still good because i was really excited about making one, so please, ALL ANSWERS

My main on till recently my only character is a Druid. I must say that even tho the first 20-30 levels it felt like it was gonna take forever to level up and the constant frustration by how easy I died and my paladin friend never did and leveled like a rocket I found out that goin through that really gave me a steady, strong and very flexible character.

I´m almost 100% feral and tank and many times I must say I outtank the prot specced warriors both in stats and way of playing. Mostly the way of playing, the gamestyle, comes with the nature of being druid since you not always could just rush in and kill everything you see, as a warrior normally is used to do when soloing.

My equipment is 95% blue, one epic I´ve made with alchemy and my stats are 17,500+ armor 428 defense and 12,500 hp unbuffed, that´s made me tank many times when they´ve had to choose between me and a prot warrior, note, with epic gear.

Certainly the warrior would be awesome as tank since they have other specialities I don´t but their gamestyle really can ruin the tanking style, not to say I´ve met some really good warrior tanks.

BTW must add, when i speak of gamestyle to emphasize what I mean, that having a rogue playing solo rogue gamestyle in an instance with 5 or more people can be really really annoying. Can´t remember how many times we´ve had totally wrecked instanses ´cause of rogues just playing rogues. Some of them aren´t teamplayers and maybe thats why they chose rogue class. Maybe I chose druid ´cause I like the way they are meant to be played, balanced but still very good at what they can do if played correctly.

I could go on forever and ever but I wont (already halfway though xD )

Hope this might help a bit, otherwise feel free to ask me for advice on druid

Here's the only things you need to know:

1- Druids absolutely rock when played right.
2- Druids are not an easy class like Locks. They are not "better than most classes" just by sitting around and using 2-3 skills. They actually require skills.
3- It doesn't mean **** what classes Blizz employees play. Hell, I'd think they'd be playing any other game than this cause they must be sick of it.
4- Don't base your choices upon hearsay. If you just follow the hype you become a tool. And with BC we've had enough of that kind of Druid, really.

EDIT: Removed first line for cause of personal obliviousness, happens too much lately. T_T

Well tbh locks aren't easy to master either, if you want to do things right :) Knowing which curse to apply, how and when to use the various pets, maximising damage, etc is quite challenging.

But anyway I would not advise chosing a class depending on the current "flavour of the month" or just hearing "they might be good at this". Like any other class, if played well, they are good, if not, they aren't. The only important thing re: druids is that they are hybrids and depending where you apply your effort, they can be awesome at different roles (but not all at the same time of course), whereas most other "pure" classes can be awesome at only one role. But all in all druids are not better or worse than other classes.

I thought spelling and grammar were prerequisites of being Scholar... Oh well.

Agobi is a good poster and I have rated him up a lot for the quality posts he makes in the Druid forum. Same goes for you Selv, I think I have moved you more then halfway to Sage since you started posting here.

It helps to actually read the names of posters and get an idea of who everyone is in the community. You can't judge a post by the color of the name and it works both ways. There are default posters who can be very helpful and there are plenty of high rated posters who give misinformation.

I think Druids are the least popular class because it takes more effort to really learn to play the class well. Not that we are better or worse or less complicated, just that it seems harder for people to really wrap their heads around the fact that we can and should use abilities appropriate to more than one role at the same time.

Aye, I agree, highR. And the name Agobi is indeed familiar but... I dunno, that post made my eyes bleed a bit. :P

Agobi, in answer to your edit, my bad, I really thought it was serious. X_x
