I realize that you have an excellent guide stickied here, but several people had suggested that I post my guide here as well.

No offense intended to the OP,but I will be happy to check the link. At my local library. After I have a European engineer friend post some .docs on that site. Might be me and my ignorance, but I will err on the safe side. Too much fluff,IMO,closing the link out.

That's funny, they said the same thing on the official WoW forums.

It's not a keylogger. Is google docs known for being a transport for viruses?

No idea. But first-posters throwing out random links with an alluring title is known to be keyloggers 98% of the time. You should know with all the loggers being posted around now adays.

"Big alliance Halaa Raid! Pictures inside"

"Nature Enemy Castbar for WoW version 2.2.0 released"

"Osiris' Excellent Rogue guide here! check it out!"

You see my point?

I completely understand. I guess I've been really lucky. I browse more sites than any 5 people I know combined and haven't had a problem with viruses, keylogger or trojans in years.

Well, if someone trusted would be kind enough to verify the validity of my link, I would greatly appreciate it.

Until then, I'm off to Blizzcon.

Link's verified, no keylogger.

From what i read of it, it looks pretty good. And very thorough. Unfortunately i do not have time to read the whole thing, but surely a good read for a new rogue and/or new player.

Ok, I just read the whole thing, and I'd have to say, I'm very impressed with it. It also answered a lot of my questions, and I'll definately be reffering to it. Once I get my rogue to 70 I'm planning to go PvP, and I had a lot of questions that weren't getting answered. I found a lot of answers there, and just good info and things I didn't know. Great guide, and thx! :)

I read version 1 and version 2 of the guide years ago, and Osiris's guide is what got me started as a rogue.....and interested me in the art of stunlocking.

Good stuff....

Reading version 3 now.

OK, just finished the guide.

It's pretty good. Too much info on game basics (ie non rogue related things) though. Would have liked to see more info on PVP strategies for the various builds as well.

Would of liked info as well, but he specified many times that you could write a PVP guide for days, and it still would not be up to date, nor would it be set in stone as the thing to do.

I liked a lot of it, and is definately worth bookmarking. I would of liked an appendix, but thats just nitpicking.

Overall very good, some of the advice I found questionable, but was a matter of opinion more than just blatantly wrong.

In reference to what you stated about joining an arena team:

Quote:
The gear is so easy to earn. You can have a horrible rating and get a godly offhand in 30-40 matches.
I'm guessing you are assuming the minimum 10 matches a week, and thus 40 matches would be one month before acquiring that offhand. I just want to make sure people aren't reading that and being mislead into thinking 40 matches in their first week was going to bring them a weapon.

I've decided that a PvP guide is out of the question. I could write one today and I'm sure I'd scrap it before dinner tomorrow after attending conferences at Blizzcon. The changes are WAY too fast.

If I wanted to be a hardcore PvP writer, I would have to start a blog. But that would inevitably turn into something similar to Ming's blog where I'd mostly be talking about what the cutting edge teams are doing more so than strategies.

The downside there would be that if I were to put myself in a position of being qualified to write PvP strats at the absolute cutting edge, I would have to maintain a 2100+ rating on all of my teams. I could do it, but I'd be shooting myself in the foot to discuss my team's strats. If everyone in my battlegroup at that level knew that my team's strat against their configuration would be to sheep the warrior, bubble our shaman and kill their hunter first, we'd be toast.

I tried to appeal to a massive audience. Yes, it is certainly a guide for new players, but it absolutely appeals to the raiding rogue as well. A common comment that I get is, "I did everything in your guide prior to reading it but you put things in plain English as to why we do it".

99% of the level 70 rogues in WoW are not arguing the math of one build over the other in the EJ forums.

Hopefully, I was able to reach some of these rogues. v2 got two million unique IPs as the result of one sticky on one site. I take great satisfaction in the fact that any of them might have become better rogues for my writing.

Thanks all for the kind words.

Thanks again for taking the time to write the guide. Your old "Osiris Prep/CB Build" was the bread and butter for all three of my rogues (Pre-BC).

Keep up the good work!

Interesting...No offense intended Osirisguide, but welcome to 2007. Not sure who "they" are in the context of saying the "same thing" regarding your doc,but my guess is an IT Pro who speaks fluent SonicWall or very similar dialect, and will checkoff a $40K expenditure on a corporate virus license for a limited number of workstations. And that's the tip of the iceberg. Most peeps will or would never find a well-scripted keylogger,as it would hide within another process/program in the delivery package of a trojan. Eventually, they (spyware app,anti-virus) might find it.
Fast forward: any erstwhile doc extension that terminates in what appears to be a good approxiamtion of an eyechart exam is a red flag. And Google is a perfect place to put it. And someone who has posted here 4 times on this forum to date, linking a guide, smelled Phishy to me. So,I didn't trash you,I merely advised caution and prudence to those considering you guide's link. Plenty of good stickies here already, and if and when I read your guide on a public domain computer,I'll post here and let you know what I think of it.

Nice guide. Didn't read the whole thing, but I skimmed through the first half, and I agree with most of it (pretty much everything but the talent order, I'd take Assassination before post-AR talents).

Mind if I toss a link in the sticky? More information is always a good thing.

Thanks for all of the kind words and feedback. Rogue will continue to be my main through WotLC, so expect version 4 then. I'll try to put a PvP guide together by then.

Blacksmithing – This one is great for maces and swords. Maces are hot with rogues right now. You don’t even need to raid to get godly epic weapons. I recommend this highly unless you are in a serious raiding guild or are a dedicated dagger rogue.

Out of curiosity, do any of you actually have Blacksmithing?
