magic absorption - uber good or uber crap?Follow

So I picked this talent, but I think I never seen in proc.. (ever) The +10 resist is cool (yeah right when nowdays everyone has at least +30-40 spell penetration).
So what is your experience with this talent? We bump it or dump it?

I would agree that it is definitely not a PvP talent, it is more for resist-heavy boss fights in PvE.

Magic Absorption is a very gear-dependent ability that is only useful if your resistances are quite high. Getting your resistances to this level through gear, gems, etc., however, requires that you sacrifice a great deal of bonuses that are probably more useful than having a high resistance. This is true because resistances are entirely useless vs. warriors, rogues, and sometimes, druids, while the other, more reliable buffs to intellect, stamina, and magic damage are always useful. Just do what every other skilled mage does...buff damage and ignore resistance.

Actually, it's a talent that was beyond spectacular in many of the old level 60 raids. Since those were filled with resist fights, you'd find yourself in resistance gear often and throwing up full resists enough to give you plenty of mana returns, especially if you had the enhanced mana pool from Arcane Mind.

Right now, there really aren't that many fights where you want to be in resistance gear. So the talent has fallen by the wayside.

It does still, however, have its place. With that talent, if your group doesn't have a warlock, you can AE spam your way to glory on Illhoof by putting on some decent FR.
