Will +spell crit effect the crit chance of arcane shot, i would think it would but not sure how what the machanic's work with the two. Any help on the subject would greatly appreciated.

No. Spell-affecting gear has almost ZERO effect on us. Don't wear it!

Arcane shot scales with our ranged attack power, and crits based on our regular crit.

I think serpent sting gets bonuses from +spell damage, but it's fairly useless/not worth it. Since it's a sting, it won't crit, so, again, no bonus from spell crit.

I love seeing hunters run around, and then I inspect em and see +spell damage/crit gear, or +healing gear...greatest thing I like to see is hunters with staffs meant for mages. I always get a kick out of it.

the only spells a hunter has are mend pet, kill command and a few others like that.
Due to the way they work +spelldmg, crit or +heal dont effect them.

I think that +spell damage effects Volley as well, not sure if volley can crit though as it's a DoT/AoE

DoT's cant crit, and i doubt +spelldmg has effect on it.
But even if it does, its not worth getting +spelldmg gear for ;)

+healing gear used to work - used to be an exploit, really (you could kill amazing things w/ your pet w/ sufficient heals, solo). That was nerfed recently.

may want to check and see what pet they have... if its a scorpid.. there is a pretty good chance they know what they are doing.

because i hear the damage from the scorpids little stacking poison is effected by spelldamage..

and i hear you can see upwards of 600 damage per tick if geared right......

anyone who can do that with a pet is a player that i will definatly not laugh at.

Nope, Hunters spell damage doesn't carry over to the pet, only a portion of their RAP will be converted to spell damage for the pet (about 7.5%).

+spelldmg does effect Volley, only real use I've found though is for clearing deadmines in two pulls =]

The reason for this is likely the mp5 they get from it, well worth it if it's an upgrade.

I thought our ranged attack power increases the +dmg of your pet, as well as its normal attack power...

Personally, i have a BM hunter and while out leveling/grinding i have found that the more INT i have, the more i can kill with less downtime. Granted, my hunter is only lvl 47 at this time, but i seem to just have AGI and INT gear. I find that there is no need for me to have STA gear seeing as how i never get hit in PVE. If and when i do have Greens on, i make sure they are "of the Falcon" (+Agi, +Int).
Im only saying this because you mentioned "staffs meant for mages" and he has the staff from SM still.
I am NOT, however, saying that i have any +Spell dmg or +Healing gear. Simply that if i find an item with more +int, more often then not, i will use it.
If you want to take sides, i am the kind of player that only appreciates the graphics on any items if you spend the time and patience getting the full PVP sets.... Any other graphic combos (such as having 2 Axes rather then a Staff) i could care less about.
