You know you need it, and you know you'd make good use of it. Hell, that f!cktard Warr probably Needed on it, too, but you should have also.
If people give you sh*t about it, just ignore them. Regardless of the outcome of the roll, if they keep whining and ******** about it, just put them on ignore and then you can hearth, but don't pass on loot like that just cause some idiots told you to.
I have dropped groups in the past when I was Prot because some idiot rolled on some gear I needed and that he either couldn't use or wasn't an upgrade at all.
If you're in a run only for gear and you know an idiot will take it away from you, it's best to just find a better group. I used to dislike doing that cause I didn't want to get a bad reputation, but in the end the smart players will usually remember you in a good way (cause they'd realize you were in the right) and the bad players will remember you in a bad way (which doesn't matter cause you don't wanna party with them, do you?).
I completely agree with Selverein...
I've rolled on something that
I NEEDED when a couple others told me to leave it for somebody else. I won the roll and put it on right away (it was a BoE). We finished the instance (I needed to get the quests done) and they called me a ninja for half the time once I won that roll.
Anyhow, I later found out that those few players were, in fact, ******** (and are what I like to call, "democratic ninjas" because they vote on who gets the need roll, and with three of them... you get the idea), and three of the guilds I have been in since have general guild ignores on them.
