What would you do?Follow

At the moment I am specced Holy. Im having a great time. I often hang out with my protection friend so we kick butt. Today I joined a PuG. Things looked promising. There was another Holy pally so I did some attacking. We went to Zul'Farrak, after a few short pulls it was clear that the warrior couldnt tank. He could only hold hate on one, and they were kicking his butt. He used a 2 hander. I asked that either someone else tank or he gets a shield out. Needless to say I started tanking.

Things went smooth after that. We had better hate management, and the healer was using less mana. We get to a boss fight. This drops:

I go nuts. I am normally protection, and this sword would have been nice to tank with. I say that Im going to need, than wait for the OK. Next thing I know, everyone is saying to let the warrior have it. I again mention that I am tanking, and often do. Again, they say let the WArrior have it. It was clear that the 2 telling me this were his friends. I passed, than dropped party and hearthed.

Good bad? What would you have done? Was I in the right?

I really don't mean to be rude but, grow some backbone.

You know you need it, and you know you'd make good use of it. Hell, that f!cktard Warr probably Needed on it, too, but you should have also.

If people give you **** about it, just ignore them. Regardless of the outcome of the roll, if they keep whining and ******** about it, just put them on ignore and then you can hearth, but don't pass on loot like that just cause some idiots told you to.

I have dropped groups in the past when I was Prot because some idiot rolled on some gear I needed and that he either couldn't use or wasn't an upgrade at all.

If you're in a run only for gear and you know an idiot will take it away from you, it's best to just find a better group. I used to dislike doing that cause I didn't want to get a bad reputation, but in the end the smart players will usually remember you in a good way (cause they'd realize you were in the right) and the bad players will remember you in a bad way (which doesn't matter cause you don't wanna party with them, do you?).

I can do that. One problem was that I knew the other holy pally. I had ran several instances, and have had a few conversations.

I completely agree with Selverein...

I've rolled on something that I NEEDED when a couple others told me to leave it for somebody else. I won the roll and put it on right away (it was a BoE). We finished the instance (I needed to get the quests done) and they called me a ninja for half the time once I won that roll.

Anyhow, I later found out that those few players were, in fact, ******** (and are what I like to call, "democratic ninjas" because they vote on who gets the need roll, and with three of them... you get the idea), and three of the guilds I have been in since have general guild ignores on them.

If you NEED an item by all means roll on it. This game is full of morons and people who will NEED on things even if they don't need it. On three separate times I've lost NEED rolls on Healing trinkets/rings to Ret Paladins, Shadow Priests, and a DPS Shaman because "they might consider respecing to healer." However that doesn't mean Im not going to roll because someone's friend tells me to pass. Im a Healer...I will need any piece of healing gear if its an upgrade to whatever slot is available. Since you were acting as the tank in that ZF group you should have rolled NEED regardless. The Warrior and his friends were completely in the wrong by telling you not to roll. I suggest the next time that happens roll for it, and if they keep ******** about it hearth out. There's plenty of other PUG groups a Paladin can fit into with far less headache.

Yea, I would have needed on it. There have been too many times in the past where I have really needed something and not gotten it cause I played the "good guy" and conformed to the group's decision.

Yesterday in Botanica I was playing my Hunter, and this dropped:

http://wow.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?witem=28306

It would have been a nice upgrade for me, but there was also a Shaman in the group. The Shaman won, which normally wouldn't be too bad of a thing right? The jerk is Resto spec and was our healer. It wasn't my group or I might have booted him for being such a dumbass, but the leader decided it was best to let him roll too. I shoulda left, but I really wanted the rep and a shot at the BL chest, which didn't drop ... He probably still hasn't even equipped them yet.
