First off it looks great, nice and clean. A few of the more common questions I see alot are deal with builds, gear and professions.

I propose that you address the different variations of going disc/holy and maybe even going so far as to address what a build will look like at key milestones (lvl 39, lvl 49, lvl 59 and finally lvl 70) This should address those who are still in the leveling process, and who might possibly conduct some PvP on the way to 70.

Something I saw a while back was the benefit of maxing out your common skills such as cooking, fishing and first aid. Maybe highlight which fish, meats etc are used in beneficial recipes that help healing or add stats during the leveling process.

Finally, I would like to see a portion that deals with spell rotations when healing. I.E. starting off with a renew, followed by greater heal, or flash heal depending on the situation. Give a few examples that would provide a baseline by which other priest can base their playstyle after.

Thanks,

Just figured I would point out that you make it look like Fear Ward comes with Desperate Prayer as an added effect for dwarves, it's a seperate spell. Also, Draenei have fear ward. Night Elves also have some ranged protection thing...I would look up what it was called but night elf priests shouldnt be around anyway (joking).

I wouldn't bother too much with a shadow section seeing as we already have an entire FAQ dedicated to spriests. I'd focus this one much more on Dis/Holy aka Healbotting but I'd be eager to help with any of the sections.

Nice..I smell sticky..I would also like to see heal rotations as well as healing gear for end game. I wouldn't worry about a leveling build though there is already a good one on the other faq. I would have a section for it and just have another link to it. Great job and there is a lot of information here.

How do we get this stickied?

I hope. Thats the plan to give a healing guide. I didn't have much time. Will definitely be in there in a couple of days though.

Thanks guys for the comments. I updated it and changed a few things.

There is no such a thing as SPELL ROTATION in healing! Healing is reactive. You heal based on what happens on the field, not in a predefined mode. If you really want, then you can say you start with PoM on tank, before fight, keep renew up all times, and.. that's about it. But of course, this is for level 68+.

Until level 70, the only thing about healing is trial and error :) Learn how to heal. It's better to do it as shadow priest, as you'll find things much more easy when you go back to holy.

Hey, you forgot to credit me :P

The link needs editted, I apparently screwed up the formatting when I PM'ed you. The "23/38" at the end of the link is supposed to be "...]23/38[/url].

Also, I'm going to add that a 41/20 build is going to be good for healing in PvP, because of extra survivability, and as already said, will do fine in heroics and Kara provided they have the gear and skill to back it.

Definitely :P Learning to heal as shadow definitely helps make you a better healer, though the few days after you make the switch it can throw you a bit off.

One of the SPs biggest problem tends to be that they run out of mana pretty quick. Make sure you can stack up on those, especially for those long boss fights.

I disagree with this assertion. As a shadow priest, I do not go OOM unless I am forced to start healing. We have Shadowfiends and Vampiric Touch. We can pop a mana pot -- maybe 1 or 2 for long boss fights -- but we don't go OOM. If you try to stack mp5 for shadowform, you will gimp other key stats such as spell damage and spell hit... and your usefulness as a shadowpriest is lessened.

I also wonder why +Healing isn't listed in your important stats.

Also, a list of priest spells/talents can be found with minimal research. I feel like this is wasted extraneous information for a FAQ. I know this is a work in progress, so consider cutting the list down to key spells and talents, and maybe some comments on their utility.

Please keep up with the work, thank you for taking time and putting this FAQ together. It's long overdue.

Thanks guys for being patient with me.

I think you should revamp the Stats section to talk about what stats a healer might want, as said before, we do have a SP FAQ already. With that said I think for the most part just the descriptions need to be changed for the stats.

.....of course when you have a chance.

I have thrown together a gear list for Pre heroic/kara gear, with it broken up into the best of each stat for each piece(if that makes any sense). I will post it as a seperate thread, incase its crap and then its not clogging up this faq.
It will be called Healing Priest Gear List.
Hope it helps you with this fine guide.

Hey Agogoe check your PM box I had a question about somethin you sent me. But here are some builds for healing priests at 70.

I speak of Holy priests but in reality almost all healing priests are a mixture of Dis/Holy.

1. The PI Build (31/30). In this build Holy Nova and Inner Fire are used as filler talents. They can both be changed without major effect.

Pros:
- PI can boost the priest's healing or a caster's DPS.
- The build contains ImpDS which is a good party/raid buff.
- PI can help a holy priest farm/solo.
- Should be able to heal all instances and heroics fine.
Cons:
- You lose significant healing power to pick up PI.
- PI is also on a 3min CD.
- A weaker raid build.

2. The ImpDS Build (23/38). In this build the Disc tree is stripped down to the minimum in order to acquire ImpDS. ImpDS is a good buff that adds roughly 40-50 Healing or DPS to your casters so it is well worth giving up some of your own healing power in order to increase group efficiency.

Pros:
- ImpDS Buff.
- Serious healing power over a PI build.
- Holy Concentration really helps conserve mana during long boss fights.
- Overall a better raiding build than PI.
- Very strong raiding build, probably the most used.

Cons:
- Harder to solo/farm.

3. The AoE/2nd Holy Priest Build (18/43). This build assumes that the raid already has a holy priest with the ImpDS buff. This healer goes for pure healing power and AoE healing instead.

You can toy with this build a bit but the important thing is to have the raw healing talents of the ImpDS build and then Circle of Healing for raid-wide AoE healing (Prayer of Healing only does your party and Prayer of Mending is very unpredictable/unreliable).

Pros:
- Most powerful unbuffed healing build.
- Raidwide AoE healing with Circle of Healing.

Cons:
- No ImpDS means if the designated ImpDS priest does not make a raid, everyone loses a great buff.
- Harder to solo/farm.

4. The SoL/Healing Build (23/38). This build keeps many of the key talents from the ImpDS build but switches things a bit to boost damage and pickup Surge of Light.

Pros:
- Still retains good healing power.
- Still retains the ImpDS buff.
- Has Surge of Light which is *the* Holy damage talent. So the priest can solo/farm.

Cons:
- Gives up a slight bit of healing power.
- Gives up inspiration. ** (This talent is debatable as to its usefulness. For MT healing some argue it is not good since most tanks have very high armor and damage reduction is capped out at 75%. However, until your tank is well geared inspiration will help them through hard hitting boss fights.)

As the Human looks like a better choice for pvp with the talent feedback, Draenei seem to be a better choice for pve.

Small point, but I don't agree with this at all. Feedback costs way too much mana to be useful. For pvp, dwarf is the best choice. Desperate Prayer as an emergency heal for yourself, Fear Ward against those pesky warlocks/shadow priests and Stoneform (dwarf racial) to get rid of rogue poisons. They win, hands down.

For PVE, there is something to be said about humans for a holy priest as they get +10% to spirit. Diplomacy is one of the best racials in the game, 10% more rep gains means 10% less time grinding rep. I tend to think of Fear Ward as a bonus, not a requirement. If your warriors can't do bosses that fear without it, you need better ones. Yes, it helps out when you use another class to tank but I don't think you should have to base your race selection on it.

Note: If you are making a shadow priest and you know this 100% you don't have to worry about picking a race with Fear Ward as it cannot be used in Shadow Form.

I'd agree that mp5 is currently fairly useless to a shadow priest. Better than intellect or spirit to be sure, but still not that important. +Dmg is what our mana pool scales with best, and that's what you should stack. If it happens to come along with another fairly good piece of gear (Absolution set), then great, but don't go out of your way to get it. Especially since it's very hard to find decent caster gear with mp5 on it in BC (off the top of my head, Khorium Band of Shadows, Absolution set, and chest enchant).

I see you got several good suggestions that you havent included yet, nor that have made you modify the FAQ. At least ask please for more details from the people that gave them or from others, or bring your own arguments for not taking them into account, instead of ignoring them completely. (hint: mp5, +healing, racials..)
