Im using Valanos Longbow, is there a better bow/gun or is this quite ok for kara

Yes and Yes

There are obviously better guns/bows/crossbows, but Valanos is quite ok for starting with Karazhan.

You can upgrade Valanos with:
1) Epic BoE gun made by an engineer. Expensive.
2) Steelhawk Xbow - its drop from 1st Kara boss, high drop rate, you should receive it soon after starting Kara raiding.
