Pick which you think looks the best to you.
Pick the one you think you can stand staring at for countless hours.

In the end it don't matter much

Overall it doesn't matter. You should pick the race that you think is coolest.

In detail, some races are better at certain things.

If you plan to tank alot: Pick Tauren for horde. Dwarf or Night Elf for alliance.
If you plan to DPS alot: Pick Troll or Orc for horde. Don't think it matters much for alliance. Humans get +weapon skill though, so that's arguably the best option.
If you plan to PvP alot: Pick Undead for horde. Gnome or Human for alliance.
If you plan to heal alot: Pick draenei. No, jokes aside, Draenei are good as both DPS and tanking. They get +hit and they can HoT to a small extent. Making them less healing kraving if DPS:ing in a raid. Or they can help the healers out if the MT is going down.

Draenei: Good for PvP, tanking, soloing and DPS:ing.

Blood Elf, however, are the best warriors in the game. If you roll a BElf warrior, trust me, you'll be one of a kind.

Truly no joke. I use that racial A LOT. It's pretty funny in PvP when someone thinks they're going to get you and it's close. Pop that and I've come out on top quite a few times. It's not much but you don't always NEED much.

It is interrptable, btw, so if you come across someone else in PvP casting it just pummel/bash.

For PvE? Yeah this has loads of uses. If I'm lazy or the mobs are spread out and I don't want to lose rage I just do that instead of bandage/eat and by the time I get to the next mob I'm full health.

Taking on quest mobs way higher than you (orange/red) or lots of adds? Cast Gift of Naaru and charge in - for the first third to half of the battle you have full health.

(Additionally (I know this is the wrong forum for this) it also helps the healing classes "OOM - oops! Got one more trick left in me!")

I made a Tauren, and I found that he looks SLOW (though he isn't actually) next to my little Undead I am used to, right to the point of annoying me enough I don't really play him. So I think the point of view of pick the one you like to look at the best is key, besides Undead can eat your brains and have Will of the Forsaken:)
