Weapon skillFollow

Hi all,

My Orc warrior has +9 axe skill so its 354 at lvl 69 atm. So thats why I stick to my Crystalforge axe and dont even look at other weapons.
But recently someone on this forum said : "Orcs:Again, ignore the axe skill, it's pointless now."

I would like to confirm if weapon skill is somehow pointless now. I thought thats its very good to have weapon skill like a char 2 lvl higher. Am I wrong?

Thanks for any feedback on this in advance.

I don't use an axe, but if I found a good one I would. I don't think the racial is really enough to make me focus on axes. For PVP, weapon skill doesn't even matter anyway. And that's where my DPS focus is. I would say your best two choices for level 70 warrior DPS are the BOP Master Swordsmith and Master Hammersmith weapons. Lionheart Blade / Champion / Executioner + Sword Spec is a thing of beauty. The Hammersmith is great for PVP due to all the stuns. You can spec yourself to almost stunlock, if not actually stunlock.

the new +weapon skill ratings actually add to hit and crit against mobs.

it should be obvious when you see something that adds more ap/dps/high end damage to pick it up regardless of the weapon type, but if you have a choice between 2 exact same weapons (gladiator axe / mace / sword) it should be the decisive factor.

also, most of the best weapons before magtheridon atm are axes that you can get from drops, so ^^b

lori -- the axe you can upgrade with the vortexes i believe is still the best for straight up damage, although as you said, the mace is better for pvp for obvious reasons.

Each point in weapon skill = an increase of 1.2% to your total DPS (for melee). Making the weapon skill given my human and orc racials an increase of 6%. Rather good imo.

Hmmmm, is the axe better? I'll have to look into that. I'm not entirely against dropping my Master Swordsmith spec as I still haven't made anything with it yet. I was just going off what my guildies told me.

Oooo, I got quoted! A little out of context, so let me clarify what I was intending. It was a post regarding picking a race for a warrior, and I stand by comment that racials, in the long run, as much less important than picking a race you enjoy the look of. Is it a boost to DPS? Yup, not quite as good as it used to be, but it still shouldn't be the deciding factor on which race to pick.
