Pvp healer?Follow

#1 Jul 24 2007 at 10:10 PM Rating: Decent
hi, im thinking about making a pvp healer later on and i was woundering does a pally fit that criteria? or should i go with a priest or something else? im leaning more towards a pally since they can heal and take damage. but the other thing is i will have to lvl it and everyone says that they lvl slow. so i came here to hear from more experienced pallies. is it true?

I'm currently leveling a BE pally (He's only 39 and I'm stopping for a bit to pvp) and I think I can safely say that paladins do not level slowly. They may not level as fast as say, a hunter or warlock will, but they aren't as headache inducing as priests.

Pallies as pvp healers are definitely considered to be the best due to the retarded amounts of damage they can take without going down, the fact they can bubble, cleanse poisons/disease/magic, BoP a teammate to save them, BoF themselves/a teammate to get out of snares..The list goes on, theres so many reasons to use a paladin to heal in pvp.

Personally, I'm leveling protection right now because reckoning owns face for killing mobs quickly and easily, I can take on 4 mobs my level at once easily (more with some difficulty) and I don't suffer much downtime when I'm grinding.

I would recommend leveling Ret until 34 though, since you dont have 5/5 reckoning until that level.

Well, thats my pally experiance, maybe someone with some more endgame insight can say some more.

Hope this helps!

Your post is dead on but I had to throw in a little detail there. To the OP - note that casters will own you, and own you hard.

Yep. ><

If I come across a caster, I do one of three things:

1) They sheep me, I try to wait it out if my group is doing well, if not I bubble out and start healing.

2) They focus fire me, I Hammer of Justice them, then bubble once they're un-stunned if they're still focus firing me. Hopefully by that time, my teammates have been able to take them down. If not, I run the hell away. =P

3) We're going 1 on 1. I stun or use my racial silencing move and run.

If your only looking for profit, I would think Mining (ore/bars) and Enchanting (disenchant). Although, I've yet to jump into engineering, so not sure how much money you can make out of that... with disenchanting, you can make worthless greens, very valuable, and enchanting mats don't cost you anything to place on AH (at least not yet).

A Paladin is a great PvP Healer if done correctly. The thing to do is just find the toughest looking Warrior and run behind him and let him do the work while you keep him alive. This method has proved incredibly useful and has netted me several WSG and AB wins and quite a bit of Bonus Honor from Healing Done. However a Healdin doesn't truly come into its own until 60+ so before then I would suggest a Prot/Ret build and focus on backup healing when needed.

Depending on what specc you choose, it can go along pretty quickly. Most start off in the Prot tree, then Retrib tree, then after 68+ re-specc to Holy. I'd go with engineering/mining since one of the pally's weakness is the lack of ranged attacks. Engineering allows you to make ranged bombs. I found bsmith not so fulfilling because most of the items you make you will very quickly outgrow.

This is mostly what I'd recommend, too (though I go mostly Protect with a bit in Holy). I've done extremely well as a PvP healer with Protect spec. I feel it's the best balance between a good leveling spec and a good combat healer. Just be sure to keep a nice healing gearset.
