Got problems with combat mutilate spec...Follow

#1 Jul 24 2007 at 12:24 PM Rating: Default
Recently i read this thread http://wow.allakhazam.com/db/class.html?wclass=4;mid=1183145156100877411;num=24;page=1
and it said that combat mutilate(41/20/0) is a nice spec that is used by the good arena rogues that aren't combat so i decided to try it but unfortunately i had some problems with it. It is rly great when i go first on someone but most of the times the others go first on me cause i have 0 points in MoD. This makes it rly tough for me in bg's and in arenas. Other rogues-druids go first one me all the time and that means i am 90% dead. Also warlocks and hunters can see rogues with 5/5 MoD and now that i got no points there they can see me from miles away. I wonder how this build is so good in arena when the stealth is broken. I would like u guys to help me on this and give me some advice about it. Also maybe i need to change to subtlety mutilate(41/0/20) but i don't know if it will be as good as the combat one.. seems to me that it will make alot less dmg so plz i would apreciate your help alot. Thnx in adnvance

Most people are going to tell you that you just need to be more careful.

Personally, when I'm pacing around my partner in Arena, I'm constantly spamming Tab + my Sap hotkey.

I run with my own little variation to the 41/0/20 build, and I'm satisfied with it thus far.

If you're 90% dead before you get out of stun, get better gear and learn to trinket.

Other than that, just be more careful, and look into getting a couple items that boost your stealth. I have level 75 effective stealth in the arenas, and very few people are able to see me before I want them to. Stay behind them, and if possible, let your partner open first so you won't be the target the second you break stealth.

You do have 5/5 MoD though, which helps tremendously.

Lia I partner with a lock in 2v2, and it is imperative that I get the jump on someone in whatever way I can. With 5/5 MoD and sometimes sprinting in stealth I can almost always get a sap on the first target and cheapshot/begin raping the second target. MoD and Dirty Tricks especially are just too invaluable to pass up for what...some percentage of more damage? What good is it if you're dead. I'm also 30/0/31 though...I never liked mutilate, just personal preference.

You won't get Honor Poins for the trinket if you always get killed... :)

You can get them in a week of AV as long as you:

1) Enter AV

AND 2

2) Leave AV when it's over

It really doesn't matter how many kills you have. Go help your team kill NPCs! AV is 90% PvE anyway... rogues are good at PvE too :) On that note, don't sit in the cave, at least DO something productive.

I'm currently 41/20/0 with my rogue, In duels, yeah you wont have much chance on getting the first hit, but in battlegrounds and arenas, stay back, and let the other people engage with the druids, the rogues etc, then move in for the kill. I'm currently partnered with another rogue at 1600+ rating, niether of us have MoD 5/5, however he has catseye ultra googles, which basicly finds any rogue/druid in stealth that's close to us before they get us. However, you could also try getting stuff which increases your stealth level, e.g. The Masters Treads, + stealth enchant on cloak, etc. :)

To the OP:

Perhaps 41/0/20 would be more to your liking then.
